  2. Roman coins stolen from Chelmsford Museumpublished at 10:27

    Fourteen gold Roman coins have been stolen from a display inside Chelmsford Museum, police say.

    The items, which are said to be worth a substantial amount of money, were taken along with a wall-mounted cabinet at about 09:00 on 4 January. 

    A 30-year-old man from the area has been arrested in connection with the theft. Essex Polices says anybody offered these items for sale should call 101. 

  3. Police searching for stolen puppy find missing Range Roverpublished at 10:10

    Police are continuing to search for Pickle, a nine-week-old puppy stolen during a burglary in West Hordon on Monday.

    A Range Rover also taken in the incident has since been located in Luton, but Pickle is still missing, Essex Police said.

    Owner Adele Rowley said: "I've only had Pickle a week but have grown really attached to her. My other dog is missing her too - her tail has been down since she was taken."

  4. Breck Bednar murder: Mother says son's killer contacted herpublished at 09:33

    The mother of a 14-year-old boy murdered by an Essex man says she has "no doubt" a person who has contacted her online is her son's killer.

    Breck Bednar was killed in 2014 after being lured to Grays by Lewis Daynes (pictured right), 20, who is serving a life sentence.

    Breck's mother Lorin LaFave said: "It's very distressing and I know it's him." The Ministry of Justice said it had found no evidence of electronic communication in Daynes's cell.

    Greater Anglia says while a British Transport Police investigation takes place at Southend Airport, it does not know when trains will be running again.

  6. Man's death at Southend Airport railway station 'unexplained'published at 09:10

    British Transport Police has told me the death of a man found on the tracks at Southend Airport this morning is being treated as "unexplained".

    It says it was called to the railway station at about 07:47 and a man was pronounced dead at the scene.

    In a statement it said: "Officers will now work to establish how the man came to be on the tracks, and to inform his family."

  9. Greater Anglia driver 'discovered body on the line'published at 08:44

    I have just spoken to Greater Anglia about the emergency incident between Southend Victoria and Hockley.

    A spokesman told me the driver of a train leaving Southend discovered a body on the line at Southend Airport earlier this morning. He said there had been no reports of a train hitting a person.

    An investigation is now under way by the British Transport Police at Southend Airport. Trains to and from London are terminating at Hockley.

    The British Transport Police says it is heading to Southend Airport railway station to reports of a person being "under a train", external.

    The line is blocked between Southend Victoria and Hockley. 

    Greater Anglia , externalsays disruption is expected to last until lunchtime. 

  11. Replacement buses to run between Hockley and Southendpublished at 08:18

    Due to an "emergency incident", Greater Anglia says a replacement bus service is being prepared to run between Hockley and Southend.

    An "emergency incident" has closed the rail line between Southend Victoria and Hockley. 

    Trains from Liverpool Street are terminating at Wickford.
