    • Nick Alexander's family attended St Andrew's Church, in Weeley, where rector David Newman said: "I have known Nick for over 20 years, he attended the church when he came to visit his parents." 
    • His girlfriend Polina Buckley was in New York when he died and wrote on Facebook: "Three years ago on this day I met you. I fell in love the moment I laid eyes on you." 
    • Ian Birrell, who founded the Africa Express music project with Blur's Damon Albarn, described him as a "hero". 
    • Musician Yusuf Islam, commonly known by his former stage name Cat Stevens, tweeted that Mr Alexander worked as his tour merchandiser last year. "Sending love and condolences to his family," he wrote. 
    • Joe Trohman, lead guitarist of the rock band Fall Out Boy, also paid tribute to him on social media, describing him as a "great guy".

    Profile of Nick Alexander shot dead at Paris Bataclan music venue November 2015:

    • Born and brought up in Colchester, Mr Alexander attended St James's Primary School and Colchester Royal Grammar School. He went on to study at University in Liverpool. 
    • He was introduced to the music scene by his sister Zoe who was also a merchandiser for touring groups. 
    • He managed a number of nightclubs in London, where he lived when not on tour as a band merchandiser. 
    • Over his music career he supported a number of groups and individuals including Damon Albarn, Alice In Chains, Scissor Sisters, Sum 41, MGMT, Cat Stevens, Fall Out Boy, The Black Keys and Eagles Of Death Metal.

    Gunmen entered the building through the main entrance about 30 to 45 minutes after rock group the Eagles of Death Metal had begun performing at the Bataclan.

    Once in the building, they fired randomly into the crowd. According to witnesses they first shot everybody standing at the bar.

    Speaking after an inquest into the death of Bataclan massacre victim Nick Alexander, his sister Zoe said he "lived his life to the full".

    With her mother Sheelagh at her side (pictured), she said: "On November 13 last year our precious Nick... lost his life in an indiscriminate act of terror at the Bataclan theatre. 

    "Nick was a much-loved son, brother, uncle and friend, a strong, gentle, generous and funny man who lived his life to the full. We were blessed to have him in our lives and we miss him beyond measure."

    A police officer at the inquest of Nick Alexander, who died in the Paris terror attack in November last year, confirmed three gunman opened fire on the Bataclan concert goers killing 90 people.

    Det Ch Insp Philip Howarth, from Essex Police, said Mr Alexander, from Colchester, was the only Briton killed in the attacks. He said he was "a much loved family member and popular young man".

    The former girlfriend of Nick Alexander, the only Briton to die in the Bataclan terror shooting in Paris, held hands with him as she heard his breaths becoming shallower. 

    Helen Wilson, in written evidence, said: "I twisted my body around and gave him mouth-to-mouth. I was telling him not to leave me and I love him." 

    But he told her he was dying, and Ms Wilson said he died as she tried to revive him.

    Nick Alexander, 35, from Colchester, was in the venue when gunmen stormed the building midway through a rock concert by US rock band Eagles Of Death Metal on 13 November killing 90 people. 

    Helen Wilson, an ex-girlfriend with Mr Alexander that evening, said: "Nick said he had been shot. He couldn't move and was in pain."

    A 26-year-old man has died after the car he was driving crashed with a van at Langdon Hills, near Basildon, yesterday afternoon.

    Police have appealed for witnesses to the crash at 16:25 after a Fiat Punto and a Renault Kangoo panel van travelling in opposite directions collided.

    The driver of the Fiat, believed to be from Basildon, was taken to Royal London Hospital for treatment but died. The van driver was treated in Basildon Hospital for minor injuries before being released, police said.
