    The Polish government has confirmed it has started its own investigation into the death of one of its citizens in Harlow.

    Arek Jozwik died after an attack on 27 August. Two more Poles were attacked on Sunday, just hours after a march and vigil to honour Mr Jozwik.

    Polish Foreign Minister Witold Waszczykowski and Home Affairs Minister Mariusz Błaszczak flew to London and talked to ministers on Monday.

    A spokesman for the Polish Embassy said the regional prosecutor in Warsaw had started an investigation into the death.

    Earlier it was reported that the Polish ministers were due to meet Essex Police later today. The BBC now understands that the ministers have flown home, while the consul continues to maintain contact with the police.

    Polish foreign minister Witold Waszczykowski and homes affairs minister Mariusz Blaszczak have called on Britain to protect Polish people living here from such crimes. 

    Two Poles were also attacked in Harlow on Sunday, just hours after a march and vigil to honour Arek Jozwik.

    While Essex Police investigate the killing of a Polish man in Harlow and an attack on two other Polish nationals, the town's council, external has issued a statement about the effect on the town's reputation.

    Jon Clempner, the authority's Labour leader, said: "The council is concerned about any disorder, whatever the motivations for it.

    "The unacceptable behaviours of a tiny minority of people are not representative of the town I know. The perceptions these create are not the reality for the vast majority in Harlow.  

    "I know residents will continue to stand together and support each other. 

    "Harlow is a good place to live, work and visit for all. 

    "We are continuing to work with the police to support the community and to provide reassurance during these difficult times."

    Essex Police have said a motive for the attacks was being investigated, but that whether or not they were hate crimes was just one line they were pursuing.

    A pregnant woman has been rescued from a house fire in Colchester.

    She had to be rescued through a window on the first floor of the property in Barrack Street last night.

    She was left in the care of paramedics, along with a neighbour who had tried to help her. 

    Police and the fire service are investigating the cause of the blaze.

    Essex Police are continuing to question two people following a fatal flat fire in Colchester over the weekend.

    The victim of Sunday's blaze in Rochdale Way, Colchester, has been named as 78-year-old Fred Payne. 

    A 42-year-old woman and a 45-year-old man were arrested on suspicion of murder.

    The Polish foreign minister Witold Waszczaykowski said they were not visiting to criticise Britain after the killing of one Polish national and an attack on two others in Harlow.

    Two ministers met with foreign secretary Boris Johnson and home secretary Amber Rudd yesterday evening.

    Mr Waszczykowski said: "We suggested contacts with our police officers who may provide assistance on how to communicate with the Polish communities here.

    "We also suggested extending education programmes about the contribution of Polish migrants to the economy, society and culture of the United Kingdom."

    Two senior members of the Polish government have been meeting their British counterparts following the killing of a Polish man in Harlow - and an attack of two other Polish men in the town.

    While Essex Police have said a motive of hate crime is just one of the lines of inquiry they are pursuing, the Polish ministers said they were visiting to seek assurances about protection of their nationals.

    Essex Police, external have arrested a second person as part of a murder inquiry after a man died in a fire at his flat in Colchester.

    He is being named as Fred Payne, 78, who was found at Rochdale Way on the Greenstead estate in the early hours of Sunday morning.

    Officers said provisional results showed that he died as a result of breathing in smoke.

    A 42-year-old woman who was arrested yesterday is still being questioned.

    Police have said they have now arrested a 45-year-old man from Colchester.

    ET famously couldn't phone home - and now an Essex car owner has found out his Hyundai i20's computer can't recognise his voice commands when he uses words beginning with H.

    When he asks "call Stephen's home" - it doesn't happen.

    A Hyundai spokesman said the company "recognised there is an issue with voice recognition in this instance with the word 'home' and has passed all the relevant information to technical experts to find out more. "The customer has been given a goodwill gesture by the dealership where he got the car and by Hyundai itself in the form of accessories for his car."

    A Polish woman in Harlow says she doesn't feel at risk in the wake of the killing of Polish man Arek Joswik and an attack to two other Polish men.

    Two senior Polish government ministers are visiting the UK seeking assurances on the safety of Polish nationals in the wake of the attacks in Essex.

    Renata, who lives and works in Harlow said: "Wherever I live and work I feel safe.

    "We are here and we work and pay taxes. We just want to have a better life here."

    Two senior Polish government ministers are visiting London today to discuss the safety of Poles living in the UK.

    In comes in the wake of the killing of Arek Jozwik on 27 August and an attack on two Polish men outside the William Aylmer pub in the early hours of Sunday morning - less than 12 hours after they attended a silent vigil for the dead man.

    The Polish foreign minister Witold Waszczykowski, external and home affairs minister Mariusz Blaszczak were due to meet British foreign secretary Boris Johnson (pictured) and the home secretary Amber Rudd.

    A statement from the Polish embassy in London said: "The Polish government is concerned about the situation of the Polish community following a fatal attack last week and another assault yesterday on Polish nationals in Harlow, both of which are investigated by local police as potential hate crimes.

    "Polish consuls are in direct contact with local authorities and the families of the victims, offering assistance when required. 

    In the past weeks, the Polish community have experienced numerous xenophobic incidents. Polish consuls intervened 15 times. Most serious cases included arson, physical assault, hateful graffiti, and intimidation."
