A 46-year-old woman has been fined £65 with £200 costs and a £20 surcharge for failing to keep her cockerels quiet.
Sarah Gourlay, who lives at Mile End in Colchester, failed to comply with a noise abatement order and was sentenced at the town's magistrates' court.
She ignored repeated requests by neighbours and environment officers to stop cockerels crowing in her garden, the borough council said.

Prosecution was brought about by further complaints in March 2016, with neighbours describing high-pitched crowing, starting as early as 05:15 and lasting up to 25 minutes and continuing on and off throughout the day.
