  2. Monday's weather: Warm in the sunshine once the low cloud lifts published at 08:12 British Summer Time 27 March 2017

    Kate Kinsella
    BBC Look East weather

There's a cloudy, misty and murky start to the day for some of us, but the good news is, it'll turn a little brighter later on this morning.

The low cloud will be quite quick to lift, particularly in the south of the region, but parts of north Norfolk and Suffolk could potentially remain cloudy for much of the day and with the on-shore, north-easterly breeze it's going to struggle with the temperatures, with a maximum of 8C (46F) there.

Away from that, in the sunshine, we could get up to 16C (61F).

Hello and welcome to Monday's Essex Local Live on the first full Spring day since the clocks went forward.

There are dozens of poems to this favoured season but Elizabeth Bentley, born in East Anglia 350 years ago this year, sums it up best:

    "Welcome, sweet season of delight,

What beauties charm the wond'ring sight

    In thy enchanting reign!"

But with a dull and chilly morning, it is not such a "sweet season" so far.

We will be looking at the latest developments in Clacton where UKIP's only MP Douglas Carswell stood down over the weekend over a row with the party... as well as the rest of the news from the county.

The weather will follow from Kate Kinsella.

Between now and 18:00, the team here will bring you the news, sport, travel and weather updates as we get them.
