    It will be a fine and dry afternoon for most with long sunny spells and it'll feel warm in the sunshine. 

    However, murky conditions may cling to the coast in places like Clacton-on-Sea.

  2. Video: Car mounts pavement in 'TOWIE' hit-and-run brawlpublished at 11:17 British Summer Time 3 April 2017

    Video footage has emerged of the moment a car mounted the pavement in Brentwood, during a brawl outside the Sugar Hut nightclub.

    The venue often features in reality television show The Only Way Is Essex.

    Three people were injured in the incident, which happened at about 03:10 on Sunday. 

    An appeal has been launched for witnesses or anyone with footage to contact police.  

  3. Councillor extremely concerned over 'TOWIE' hit-and-run brawl published at 10:07 British Summer Time 3 April 2017

    A Brentwood councillor says he's "extremely concerned" that a car was driven at a group of people during a disturbance outside the Sugar Hut nightclub  over the weekend. 

    Two men and a woman were seriously injured, and are now being treated in hospital.

    The venue is a regular haunt in the reality TV show The Only Way Is Essex, external .

    "That's a real step up in terms of violence," Liberal Democrat Philip Mynott said of the use of the car. 

    "Somebody using an ordinary piece of equipment which is part of everyday life in a way which is so hostile.

    "I've heard a lot of people in Brentwood saying they don't come into the centre of town because of the fear of something kicking off.

    "There's a more low-level background sense of animosity or potential violence."

    The former Conservative leader of Tendring District Council, who has been approached to stand as UKIP's parliamentary candidate after its sitting MP Douglas Carswell quit the party, says he is "flattered" by the offer.

    Peter Halliday's name was put in the frame by local councillor and UKIP member Joy Broderick, who wrote this in an email to party members seen by the BBC: "Everybody in the area knows, respects and trusts Mr Halliday, all qualities Mr Carswell totally lacks."

    Last Saturday, Mr Carswell - UKIP's only MP - announced he was leaving the party and continuing on as Clacton MP as an independent. 

    Mr Halliday, who is not a member of UKIP, said: "It's flattering to be courted by UKIP, it's not the first approach I have had to stand for the party… it's not something I'm considering at this moment in time."

    A warning if you're heading towards the M25 this morning - there's been an accident on the anti-clockwise carriageway between junction 27 for the M11, and junction 26 for Waltham Abbey.

    Traffic is queuing for five miles and one lane is closed. Fog is also affecting the area.

  6. Clacton UKIP members 'searched for new candidate' before MP quit published at 08:27 British Summer Time 3 April 2017

    UKIP members in Clacton were searching for a new parliamentary candidate to replace Douglas Carswell in the weeks running up to the party's only MP quitting and becoming an independent , it has been revealed.

    BBC Essex has seen an email exchange from early March suggesting the former Conservative leader of Tendring District Council, Peter Halliday, should be UKIP's parliamentary candidate for the Clacton constituency.

    "I was blissfully unaware of all of this," Mr Carswell said. "Now that we've achieved our objective of getting back control of our country, who cares about such shenanigans?

    "My focus is 100% local. That said, your exposure of this in-fighting might give folk some idea of what I've left behind when quitting UKIP."
