    Lambourn C of E Primary School has been judged "inadequate" following a recent Ofsted inspection.

    The report, published this month, criticised the quality of teaching at the school.

    West Berkshire Council said it was working with the school on an "improvement plan".

    Ian Pearson, head of education at West Berkshire Council, called it a "disappointing result" but said the appointment of a new headteacher had "brought not only the stable leadership that the school has been sadly lacking but a clear plan and direction for improvement".

    More than £86,000 has been stolen after thieves accessed a cash machine through a supermarket roof.

    The money was taken from the ATM next to Tesco Express in St Mary's Street, Southampton, on Sunday afternoon.

    Two men were seen running over the rooftops at about 14:40 BST carrying large blue bags before getting into a red van in Golden Grove and driving away.

    It is thought the offenders would have had to enter the building through the roof on several occasions.

    A power cut hit over 550 homes in Abingdon, Chipping Norton, Charlbury and Chadlington last night.

    Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks say power went off at 05:30 and 10 properties remain without power, although most customers were reconnected within the hour.

    The company has apologised to those affected and said engineers expect to have the power back on by this afternoon. The cause of the fault is being investigated.

    A board set up to tackle inequality and social problems in a seaside community in Dorset is yet to have any tangible effect, according to residents.

    The partnership of council, police, health bosses and other agencies, was launched in November to improve life in Weymouth's Melcombe Regis district.

    But at a public meeting on Wednesday, representatives outnumbered residents who said they felt "disenfranchised".

    A soldier has admitted grooming a child after sending explicit messages over the internet from his Army barracks.

    Winchester Crown Court heard 25-year-old Craftsman Sam Dallow from Birmingham thought he was contacting a 14-year-old girl.

    In fact it was self-styled paedophile hunter Shane Brannigan, who handed Wiltshire-based Dallow to the police.

    A senior police officer warned against vigilante action - saying it risks jeopardising ongoing investigations.

    We've been informed of an engineering train on fire in Hampshire which is having a knock-on effect on South West Trains services.

    A Network Rail spokesman said: "We were alerted to a small fire on an engineering train at around 11:00 as it reached Winchfield (Hampshire).

    "We switched off the electric current to allow the fire brigade to extinguish the fire, and have now restored power so that trains can resume running."

    There were no injuries.

    Rolf Harris will be released from prison on Friday and is due to appear in person at his indecent assault trial next week, a jury has been told.

    Mr Harris, who has lived in Bray, Berkshire, is being tried at Southwark Crown Court on four counts of indecent assault against three teenagers between 1971 and 1983.

    The judge said Mr Harris, who denies all charges, will be granted bail.

    Jurors have already been told Mr Harris, 87, was convicted and sentenced following a trial in 2014.

    City of London Police began an investigation into Robert Czernik, 36, of Blackbird Close, Poole, after being contacted by Honda UK.

    Mr Czernik was bailed by a judge at Inner London Crown Court to appear for trial in the week of 11 September at the earliest.

    A motorist who seriously injured four people in two separate collisions in Bournemouth has been jailed.

    Christopher Wicks, 21, of Luther Road, Bournemouth, was handed a five-year prison term at Bournemouth Crown Court.

    Last June, he injured two passengers who were travelling in his car when he deliberately drove into a tree at speed, after he found out they planned to have him arrested.

    Four months later he sped away from police who tried to pull him over for driving without insurance twice in less than 24 hours.

    In his attempt to get away he crashed his vehicle near Bournemouth University, injuring a female passenger. Another woman in a different car suffered broken bones.

    Dorset Police Sergeant Nikki Burt, of the traffic unit, said: "The manner of his driving as he tried to escape my colleague was appalling and reckless."

    Another arrest has taken place as part of the investigation into the death of a businessman who was shot at his home.

    Guy Hedger, 61, was killed in the early hours of 30 April at his home in Castlewood in Ashley near Ringwood, Dorset.

    A 39-year-old Bournemouth man was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit aggravated burglary earlier.

    Kevin Downton, 40, of Winterborne Stickland, near Blandford, Jason Baccus, 41, and Scott Keeping, 44, both of Verney Close, Bournemouth, are accused of murder.

    Previously a 45-year-old man from Poole was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit aggravated burglary and released under investigation.

    A woman has been charged with attempted murder and possession of a bladed article after a 20-year-old woman was stabbed in the back on Blechynden Terrace in Southampton on Tuesday afternoon.

    The 33-year-old Southampton woman appears before Southampton Magistrates' Court later.

    The victim suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries but has since been discharged from hospital.

    Hampshire Constabulary is appealing for witnesses.

    The University of Oxford says its new multimillion biomedical research centre will pave the way for treatments for some of the biggest population health issues around the globe.

    The centre will bring together researchers to analyse biomedical data from tens of thousands of people worldwide, speeding up both doctors' understanding of diseases and the development of new treatments.

    It's expected research into conditions such as cancer and Alzheimer's will be a priority. More than 600 scientists will now be based in Headington.

    Sir John Bell, regius professor of medicine, said: "Technological advances have exponentially increased the information we have about what happens in a variety of disease states.

    "Some of this comes from health care records and some from analysing patient samples.

    "Being able to efficiently interrogate this data will play an increasing role in both research and treatment development in the coming years, and by bringing together world-leading research teams under one roof we will be able to accelerate this process significantly."
