The £3bn aircraft carrier sailed out of its home port of Portsmouth for the first time.
The spectacular Candles on the Cobb event which lights up the famous Cobb inb Lyme Regis is to take place again next year.
The event has illuminated Lyme Regis harbour with more than 5,000 tea lights on five occasions since 2000, and more than £130,000 has been raised for charity, but last year organisers said they were "burnt out".
The local Rotary has announced it will take over the staging and will hold the next event in August 2018.

Police are appealing for help in tracking down two expensive harmonicas that were stolen in a burglary in Kingsclere, Hampshire.
They were stolen from a house in Anchor Road while the resident was away sometime between 21 August and 24 October.
Two Hohner Super 64 harmonicas worth around £430 each were stolen along with some hand tools and stone edging from the front garden.

Southampton captain Steven Davis has been named in the Northern Ireland squad for the forthcoming World Cup play-offs.
The midfielder, who scored in Saints' 1-1 draw at Brighton is expected to captain his country as Northern Ireland take on Switzerland in home and away legs in a bid to make the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
Fellow Saint Shane Long and Bournemouth's Harry Arter have already been named in the Republic of Ireland's squad to face Denmark in the play-offs.
Image source, PAFormer Southampton football coach Bob Higgins will face trial at the end of May next year for a string of historical sex offences against boys.
Mr Higgins, 64, is charged with dozens of alleged indecent assaults on at least 23 teenagers, dating back to the 1970s.
At a hearing in Bournemouth today, his trial was set for Salisbury Crown Court on 28 May next year.
The case is expected to last six to eight weeks.

Image source, Royal NavyA police disciplinary hearing has been told there was no apparent justification for the way a police car was used to stop a suspect from fleeing the scene of a reported burglary.
Aston McLean Williams died after being hit by the armed response vehicle in Wokingham Road, Reading.
The police driver previously said he was using the car as a mobile barrier.
Gareth Morgan, a former driving standards training manager, told the hearing: "I can't see the justification for this.... I think the officer is struggling on this one."
Two officers are facing misconduct charges over the incident in August 2014.
A man has admitted murdering a father-of-two who was found stabbed in a Southampton street.
Kirpal Sangera, 39, died in hospital after being attacked in the Radcliffe Road area shortly before midnight on 18 September.

Adam Abdallah, 42, of Derby Road, entered a guilty plea at Winchester Crown Court.
He was remanded in custody to appear for sentencing on 30 November.
A 77-year-old man has been arrested after a pedestrian was seriously injured by a vehicle which failed to stop.
The 48-year-old victim was hit at about 02:12 yesterday on the A4 Bath Road, Kintbury, and remains in hospital with serious head, shoulder and back injuries, police said.
The suspect, from Wiltshire, has been detained on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, driving a mechanically propelled vehicle whilst unfit through drink or drugs and failing to stop at the scene of a collision.
He has been released pending further inquiries.
The wife of an Army sergeant who is accused of tampering with her parachute told police she asked her husband, "Did you try to bump me off?", a court heard.

He also denies damaging a gas valve in their home, recklessly endangering life.

A dog walker has suffered a broken jaw in an attack by a group wearing "Halloween skull masks or face paint", police have said.
The 23-year-old victim was waiting to cross at the junction of Thornhill Park Road and Hinkler Road, Southampton, when a group of three men and one woman approached him.

Lusea Warner married James Gale at Symondsbury in August but discovered her ring had been taken when her maid of honour's car was broken into. She was featured on media around the world after posting online that she was a "heartbroken bride".
Sadly the ring hasn't been retrieved, but she has had a replacement ring made by jeweller Philip Hawkins in Wigan in time for the couple's honeymoon.

An Edwardian open air swimming pool, left unused for 43 years, has reopened after a four-year restoration.
Reading Lido is believed to be the oldest surviving outdoor municipal pool of the era, but it was closed to the public in 1974.
After the pool was granted Grade II listed status in 2004, a company has been allowed to renovate it.
