    A 30-year-old woman found with fatal head injuries at a house in Reading has been described as a "beautiful and kind young mum" by her family.

    A murder investigation was launched after Simone Grainger was discovered at a house in Windsor Way, Calcot, on Saturday afternoon.

    In a statement, her relatives said they were "lost in grief on an unprecedented scale" and paid tribute to "our angel".

    A 32-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder remains in custody.

    A dead dog was found in a zipped-up rucksack which had been dumped in the New Forest, the RSPCA has said.

    The male Staffordshire bull terrier, which was not microchipped, was discovered with its legs bound together by cable ties and wrapped up in a duvet cover and gaffa tape in woodland near Dibden Purlieu on Monday.

    RSPCA inspector Penny Baker said the animal charity was investigating the "upsetting" find and urged anybody with information to come forward.

    “He was in normal bodily condition with some scabbing around his groin area and bruising inside his mouth but it is not clear how he died," she added.

    A man and his two young sons who had been missing for more than a month have been found safe and well, police have said.

    An "urgent" search was launched after Michael John Cole, 43, and sons Michael Lee, eight, and Harry, seven, were reported missing from Arborfield in Berkshire on 2 October.

    Thames Valley Police said the trio had been located late on Monday night and thanked the public for their assistance during the campaign to find them.

    Twenty sheep have been stolen from a farm in Dorset.

    The livestock were taken from a field protected by a locked gate near Halstock at some point between 12:00 GMT on Sunday and 13:00 on Monday.

    Police said the surrounding area has been checked, and they did not believe the sheep had escaped.

    A witness said bleating could be heard at about 03:00 on Monday.

    Fossils of the oldest-known ancestors of most living mammals, including human beings, have been found in Dorset.

    Teeth belonging to the extinct shrew-like creatures, which scampered at the feet of dinosaurs, were discovered in cliffs Durlston Bay near Swanage.

    Scientists who identified the specimens say they are the earliest undisputed fossils of mammals belonging to the line that led to humans.

    Oxford City have been drawn against Notts County from League Two in the second round of the FA cup.

    It follows the National League South side's shock FA cup first round victory over Colchester United on Saturday.

    Oxford City manager, Mark Jones, said Notts County was "a good draw" and would be "really big test" for his side.

    Elsewhere Slough Town were drawn against League One Rochdale in the draw which took place at Slough Town Football Club.
