  2. Oxford legal challenge over Brexit paperspublished at 17:50 British Summer Time 3 October 2018

    Bethan Nimmo
    Political reporter, BBC Radio Oxford

A legal challenge to release government papers on Brexit is set to be made by Oxford City Council.

The Labour-run council believes the government holds papers about the impact on the region of leaving the EU.

Councillors have voted unanimously in favour of a bid to get them released - following the example of Plymouth City Council.

It says it needs "accurate and up-to-date information" to protect businesses and communities in Oxford.

The government said it remained confident it will secure a positive deal with the EU - and continues to work closely with local government, holding regular meetings to plan for Brexit.
