    Commuters using London's Paddington station are being warned there could be further disruption today.

    The chaos was caused by damage to 500m of overhead power cables inflicted during a train test run on Tuesday.

    Network Rail engineers have been carrying out repairs but one line will remain out of action for electric trains.

    Some disruption continued between London and Reading on Thursday.

    It weighs over 1,000kg and will soon be heading to London to be put on display.

    A pumpkin that was grown by twin brothers, from Lymington in the New Forest, weighed in as the heaviest ever grown indoors in the UK.

    Ian and Stuart Paton beat their own record and have now set their sights on the world record.

    The brothers have been growing giant pumpkins together for over 40 years and say it's "pretty cool" to have grown "the third biggest fruit that's ever sat on the face of the Earth".

    The assault happened in West St Helen's Street in Abingdon

    A woman was sexually assaulted in a taxi in Abingdon in the early hours of Sunday morning.

    Thames Valley Police said, external at about 01:30 a woman in her 20s caught a taxi from Park End Street in Oxford.

    During the journey she fell asleep, but woke up at about 01:45 to find the driver undoing her trousers. He then sexually assaulted her.

    The victim got out of the taxi near West St Helen Street, Abingdon, and the driver followed her for a short distance, before walking off after she approached a member of the public.

    The driver is described as an Asian male with short black hair and stubble.

  17. Man Booker Prize nominee Daisy Johnson 'working on next book'published at 17:24 British Summer Time 18 October 2018

    This week Anna Burns was named the winner of this year's Man Booker Prize, becoming the first author from Northern Ireland to triumph.

    Milkman beat competition from Everything Under by Oxford's Daisy Johnson - who, at 27, was the youngest nominee in Man Booker history.

    Daisy is still in good spirits though, and has since tweeted that she's working on her new book.

  18. Large stash of illegal cigarettes seizedpublished at 17:03 British Summer Time 18 October 2018

    Twenty-four thousand smuggled cigarettes were seized in Witney, Oxfordshire, yesterday.

    Trading Standards and Thames Valley Police officers raided a property in Highworth Place with sniffer dogs and found the suspected counterfeit cigarettes which have a market value of £12,000.

    Jody Kerman, Oxfordshire County Council’s operations manager for trading standards, said: "Illegal tobacco poses an additional threat to our children and communities, because it is sold at pocket money prices by criminals who may not be interested in asking for proof of age.

    "We’re committed to helping people live safe, healthy lives; cracking down on the illegal tobacco trade is one of our top priorities."

  20. Hospital power cut after substation firepublished at 16:42 British Summer Time 18 October 2018

    The power supply at the Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth was affected earlier this afternoon after a fire at a nearby substation.

    The incident on Southwick Hill Road was reported to Hampshire fire and rescue shortly after midday.

    The fire service said no-one was injured in the incident.

    Paul Bytheway, chief operating officer at Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust, said: "Mains power to parts of the Queen Alexandra Hospital site was lost shortly after noon today."

    He added: "We instigated our incident response plan and normal power has been restored in all patient areas in the hospital."
