Extra government cash for Isle of Wight adult social carepublished at 12:10 British Summer Time 19 October 2018
Extra government money has been given to the Isle of Wight for adult social care this winter.
The island will receive a one-off payment of £766,415 in a bid to ease pressure on services over the coming months.
The council will discuss with health partners how best to use the cash to provide appropriate care to people once they’ve left hospital, Isle of Wight Council said.

The Queen will visit Bracknell's Lexicon shopping centre later.
It's just over a year since the site opened.
During her visit the Queen will tour the development and Union Square, meeting staff, architects, builders and developers.
She'll also unveil a plaque to mark her visit and hear a performance from the Berkshire Maestros Band.

Commuters using London's Paddington station are being warned there could be further disruption today.
Image source, PAThe chaos was caused by damage to 500m of overhead power cables inflicted during a train test run on Tuesday.
Network Rail engineers have been carrying out repairs but one line will remain out of action for electric trains.
Some disruption continued between London and Reading on Thursday.

A pumpkin that was grown by twin brothers, from Lymington in the New Forest, weighed in as the heaviest ever grown indoors in the UK.
Ian and Stuart Paton beat their own record and have now set their sights on the world record.
The brothers have been growing giant pumpkins together for over 40 years and say it's "pretty cool" to have grown "the third biggest fruit that's ever sat on the face of the Earth".
