    Buses had to be diverted away from an area of Southampton after objects were thrown at two causing the windows to "shatter", the operator has said.

    City Red Service 2 buses were diverted away from the Millbrook area on Tuesday "for safety reasons" after objects were thrown by a group of young people "on successive occasions", First Group, which operates the buses, and Hampshire Constabulary said.

    The force is appealing for witnesses. No-one was injured in the attacks.

    "The safety of our passengers and driver are our main priority," a First Group spokesman said.

    "Smashing windows could cause serious harm to them and is really dangerous."
