Brittany Ferries says travel on its Portsmouth to Spain routes will now be limited to freight drivers, Spanish residents and Spanish citizens.
People can still come the other way, from Spain back to the UK.
The ferry firm said the first affected sailing would be the 09:00 GMT sailing from Portsmouth to Santander .
Covid-19: Portsmouth ferries cancelled as France shuts border
Since Sunday night it has also been unable to carry passengers and accompanied freight (being transported by a driver) to France from Portsmouth.
France shut the border for 48 hours on Sunday over the UK's new virus variant. More than 40 countries have now banned UK arrivals.
"Contingency measures" are brought in to ease congestion as drivers queue to leave the UK.
