    An 80-year-old woman was threatened with a knife in her Redditch home by a man who stole cash, police say.

    According to West Mercia Police, the man forced his way into the house on Bromsgrove Road between 15:30 and 15:45 yesterday.

    The intruder, who was disturbed by another family member returning home, fled with the money in the direction of the Queen's Head pub (pictured).

  9. Man arrested over Father's Day 'murder'published at 16:03 British Summer Time 19 April 2016

    A man has been arrested on suspicion of the murder of a dad who was knifed to death on Father's Day.

    Christian Bagley was stabbed in the arm and back under Hunderton Bridge in Hereford after visiting his daughter on 21 June. He died in hospital.

    A Worcester company which has had a presence in the city for more than a century says it's planning to go into administration, putting 100 jobs at risk.

    The engineering firm Froude Hofmann, based at the Blackpole trading estate, says it's experienced a period of "significant losses" and low volume orders.

  14. Health secretary to meet local MP over Worcestershire hospitalspublished at 14:04 British Summer Time 19 April 2016

    Bromsgrove MP and government minister, Sajid Javid, is set to meet with the health secretary, Jeremy Hunt, and the chief executive of NHS Improvement, Jim Mackey, next week to discuss the future of Worcestershire's hospitals.

    At the meeting, which other Worcestershire MPs have been invited to attend, NHS Improvement will present its plan for securing services provided by Worcestershire Acute NHS Trust into the future.

  15. Jailed ex-SAS man's 'emotional attachment' to trophy pistolpublished at 13:43 British Summer Time 19 April 2016

    The daughter of a former SAS solider who's been jailed for keeping a pistol says he has an "emotional attachment" to the weapon. 

    Albert Patterson, who's 65, is serving 15 months in prison for keeping a pistol and ammunition from the Falklands War in his home in Hereford.

    Almost 90,000 people have now signed a petition for the veteran to be freed, external, started by The Sun newspaper.
