  2. 'Vole-friendly' wetland planned for Battlefield Brookpublished at 12:55 British Summer Time 19 April 2016

    Work to build a new "vole-friendly" wetland around the Battlefield Brook running through Sanders Park in Bromsgrove will begin in May.

    Worcestershire Wildlife Trust says water from one of the storm drains will be diverted to help create the wetland, which will help provide a food source for one of only two known populations of water voles in Worcestershire.

    A 2m (7ft) high birthday card for the Queen's 90th birthday, external, handmade by schoolchildren in Hereford, has begun a two-day journey to Hereford by bicycle.

    Will Vaughan, from a Hereford bike taxi company, plans to have the card in London by Thursday.

  6. Man arrested on suspicion of murder following Christian Bagley stabbingpublished at 11:25 British Summer Time 19 April 2016

    A 30-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder, external this morning, following the fatal stabbing of a man under a Hereford bridge, police say.

    Christian Bagley, who was 30, was stabbed in the back and arm under Hunderton Bridge in the city after visiting his two-year-old daughter on Father's Day, 21 June.

    West Mercia Police has released a CCTV image of another man they would like to speak to, who was seen on the riverbank and in the Costcutter on Belmont Road just after 23:30 on Saturday, 20 June.

    The arrested man remains in custody, police say.

  7. Man charged with sexual assaultpublished at 11:02 British Summer Time 19 April 2016

    A man has been charged in connection with a sexual assault in Hereford, external, police say.

    The 21-year-old is charged with sexually assaulting a male, being drunk and disorderly in public and theft from a shop.

    He was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Worcester Crown Court on 11 May.

    It follows an incident on Newmarket Street between 14:30 and 15:00 on Wednesday, 13 April, West Mercia Police says.

    I was at the Cap and Gown pub in Worcester last night where the six candidates for the West Mercia Police and Crime Commissioner, external took questions from voters.

    The candidates faced a wide range of questions from the audience, from how the force treated women to whether each candidate would support sharing a chief constable with Warwickshire to save money.

  13. City centre traders vow to fight out-of-town retail park planspublished at 09:16 British Summer Time 19 April 2016

    Campaigners opposed to plans for a new shopping centre between Junction 6 and 7 of the M5 say it will put shoppers off visiting Worcester and other nearby towns, as well as driving away big high street names. 

    If the plans are approved, the Worcester Woods retail park would see a new John Lewis Home, Marks and Spencer and Sainsbury's built off Newtown Road, near the Worcestershire Royal Hospital.

    Worcester BID, who represents local traders in the city, says it'll appeal the decision if it gets approval. 

    There's still no date for the planning application to go before city councillors.

    Firearms officers were deployed to reports of an armed robbery, external at a bookmakers in Redditch. 

    Police were called to William Hill on Batchley Road yesterday afternoon after a man, who was reportedly armed with a handgun, made off with £500 cash. 

    West Mercia Police say the suspect is still at large.
