    I've been to meet Tom Wells, the councillor for the Powick area of Worcestershire, who recovering after a bonfire accident left him with burn injuries to 70% of his body.

  7. Man on trial charged with illegally importing gunspublished at 12:17 British Summer Time 16 May 2016

    A businessman from Tenbury Wells is due to go on trial in Hereford charged with illegally importing guns. 

    The 56-year-old has pleaded not guilty to breaching his licence in September 2014 by having semi-automatic weapons including an AK47 rifle and a Glock pistol. 

    He has also denied illegally importing 10 self-loading pistols in June last year.

    Part of a dress worn by Elizabeth I, that was used as an altar cloth in a Herefordshire church has been described as "incredibly rare" by historians. 

    Eleri Lynn, an expert from Historic Royal Palaces, external, describes the importance of the find at St Faith’s Church in Bacton.

    Hereford FC have had final confirmation from the FA that their bull mascot can be paraded around the pitch before their FA Vase final, external on Sunday 22 May.

    Hawkesbury 1 Ronaldo, as the bull is known, will make his way pitchside at 11:10 and then parade in front of the Hereford fans for around half an hour before leaving the arena at 11:40.

    A Worcestershire councillor has spoken for the first time after being badly burnt in a bonfire accident at his home. 

    Tom Wells, who represents the Powick area, was airlifted to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham and put in an induced coma after the accident.

    He was only given a 50% chance of surviving and has had several skin graft operations on injuries that affect 70% of his body.

  11. Attempted murder arrest after Hereford stabbingpublished at 10:54 British Summer Time 16 May 2016

    A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a 51-year-old man was stabbed while sitting inside a car, external, police say.

    West Mercia Police say they were called to reports of a stabbing in Cusop Close, Hereford (pictured), at about 18:45 yesterday.

    The man, who suffered "serious injuries", was airlifted to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham where he has undergone surgery - his condition at this time is said to be serious but stable.

    Police say a 20-year-old man was arrested at the scene and is currently in custody.

    Worcester’s leading politicians are meeting to try to work out who’s going to run the city council for the next two years.

    The authority was thrown into chaos earlier this month, when the Conservatives lost their overall majority in the local elections.

    The Greens want all the parties to sit down and run the council together. 

    While a statement released by Labour didn't explicitly rule out a "grand coalition",  by highlighting the differences they have with the Conservatives, and the similarities they have with the Greens, it's clear they’d prefer to just work with the Greens and kick out the Conservatives.

    Worcestershire opener Brett D'Oliveira missed out on a third straight century, but runs still flowed for the hosts as they enjoyed a good day against Sussex.  

    After putting on 113 for the first wicket with skipper Daryl Mitchell (43), D'Oliveira was out to a loose shot, cutting, after being stuck on 99.

  16. House raiders threaten boy in bedroompublished at 08:58 British Summer Time 16 May 2016

    Raiders threatened a teenage boy in his bedroom when they burst into a house, before trying to hitch a lift when their getaway car broke down.

    Two men in balaclavas forced their way into the house in Haselor Lane, Evesham, at 09:30 on Saturday.

    They stole a quantity of cash before fleeing in an old-style green Vauxhall Omega, police said.

    The car broke down on the A46 and the robbers attempted to hitch a lift from passing cars, West Mercia Police said.

    Part of a dress which probably belonged to Elizabeth I has been found in an Herefordshire church.

    Experts at Historic Royal Palaces say they're as certain as they can be the altar cloth from St Faith’s Church in Bacton was made from Elizabeth I's dress, making the item one of the most important objects to still exist from her reign.

    The dress was probably donated to the church's patron, the Queen's nursemaid Blanche Parry, in the 16th Century.

    The cloth is thought to be the last surviving example of professional embroidery from the Elizabethan period.
