    A woman from Worcester who was a victim of breast surgeon Ian Paterson is calling for a public inquiry into his practices.

    The 59-year-old surgeon is to be sentenced later this month after being found guilty of 17 counts of wounding with intent relating to nine women and one man

    Paula Gelsthorpe is planning to take her own civil action against Paterson for two lumpectomies he carried out on her.

    A television DIY expert from Kidderminster has appeared in court charged with assaulting a police officer.

    Huntley Thawe, who's appeared on the TV programme The Renovation Game, is accused of two assaults on officers, obstructing a highway and resisting a police officer. 

    He's pleaded not guilty to all four charges and is now due to appear before magistrates in Redditch in August.

    BBC Midlands Today has launched its new set.

    Mary Rhodes and Nick Owen will be presenting the West Midlands regional programme in a revamped Birmingham studio which has a new sofa and six new screens.

    The programme has been presented from a position overlooking Birmingham's canals for the last fortnight while the preparation work was carried out.

  7. Cathedral bell ringers support school plans to build belfreypublished at 13:40 British Summer Time 2 May 2017

    As we reported earlier, bell ringers at Worcester Cathedral are backing plans for a school in the city to open its own belfry as they say it would help to introduce more youngsters to the art.

    Christopher Whitehead Language College is hoping to incorporate a bell tower into its plans for a new multi-million pound performing arts centre. 

    The Cathedral's ringing master, Mark Regan, thinks it could lead to the younger generation taking charge of the ropes.

    New gym equipment is to be installed at a park in Redditch later this month.

    The play area and park at Astwood bank will be closed all day on the 19th as the equipment is installed. 

    The new kit includes cycle, leg press, rowing and ski machines.

    Mrs Lumley, who has been the town's MP for the past seven years, is currently receiving treatment in hospital for ill health.

    Her husband Richard says she was planning to stand for re-election as recently as three weeks ago.

    The academy graduate made his first-team debut against Nottingham Rugby in the British and Irish Cup in 2014. 

    He also played a significant role in helping the team win the competition that season.

    A song written by a musician from Redditch has been viewed more than 120,000 times.
