Contaminated blood inquiry an 'enormous relief' says campaignerpublished at 08:41 British Summer Time 12 July 2017
A Worcestershire campaigner says she's relieved the government has finally announced there will be an inquiry into the contaminated blood scandal.
During the 1970s and 1980s, NHS patients were given blood products that were infected with diseases, such as hepatitis C and HIV.
Collette Wintle, who lives in Worcester, developed cirrhosis of the liver following a contaminated blood transfusion.
She says she hopes others like her and the families of those who died will finally get justice.
Quote MessageIt's been an enormous relief after campaigning for well over 20 years and during that time watching so many people die and go to their graves without justice and knowing the fight has to go on - it's been utterly exhausting."
