    Administrators called in to deal with Hereford firm Gelpack are meeting with workers and the city's MP Jesse Norman this morning.

    Up to 200 jobs are at risk after the plastic packaging company confirmed it was struggling to stay afloat last week.

    In May, the firm secured a £10m loan in order to serve more customers but administrators KPMG say the business has recently suffered from difficult trading conditions.

    A Hereford-based charity has donated more than £500,000 to eight research projects into childhood cancers.

    The Little Princess Trust was founded in memory of five-year-old Hannah Tarplee who lost her own battle with cancer.

    The charity provides free wigs made from real hair to children who've lost their own hair through treatment.

    Campaigners calling for woodland to be reopened say they've got figures to prove the area is no more likely to attract crime than anywhere else.

    Uffmoor Woods near Hagley were closed in May following complaints of "dogging", drug dealing and out-of-control dogs.

    But people living nearby say they've discovered there've only been 28 incidents reported to the police in the last five years.

    The Woodland Trust says it's aware of other evidence of antisocial behaviour but insists work is underway to reopen the area for public use.

    Worcestershire batsman Moeen Ali rounded off the England Test series against South Africa in style yesterday.

    The 30-year-old was 75 not out in England's second innings and then claimed 5 for 69 as South Africa were bowled out for 202.

    The star was named England's player-of-the-series by the South African coach Russell Domingo.

    A woman who's trying to adopt a child in Uganda says she could be back in England with her child by next year.

    Emilie Larter met Adam when she was volunteering for a charity.

    His mother had just died and she's been raising him since he was 5-days-old.

    She's currently going through the adoption process to bring the three-year-old orphan back to Worcestershire.

  7. Patient care in A&E corridors 'standard' at Worcestershire Acute NHS Trustpublished at 09:15 British Summer Time 8 August 2017

    There have been no "tangible" improvements at hospitals in Worcestershire where patients are being cared for in emergency department corridors as "standard", a new report says.

    Patient privacy and dignity "remained compromised" at Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust as a result, the Care Quality Commission said.

    In April, inspectors found "no tangible improvement in performance" since a previous assessment in November.

    The trust, rated inadequate, said it had made improvements since then.

    Moeen Ali has finished with five wickets as England wrapped up a 177-run win over South Africa at Old Trafford.

    The Worcestershire player scored 75 not out in the second innings to take the match away from the visitors, before ending Amla's stubborn resistance.

    It means England wrap up the series 3-1.

    Speaking on Test Match Special, former England spinner Phil Tufnell named Moeen as his man of the series.

  14. Long-term solution needed for cancer waiting timespublished at 17:41 British Summer Time 7 August 2017

    Hospitals in Herefordshire and Worcestershire are among the worst in the country for making sure suspected cancer patients get their first treatment quickly.

    Both Wye Valley and Worcestershire Acute Trusts are both failing to meet the NHS target of treating 85% of suspected cancer patients within 62 days of referral.

    Extra money has been made available to clear the backlog of hundreds of patients - but Cancer Research UK says it's just a short-term fix.

    Worcestershire's Moeen Ali has taken three South African wickets on the fourth day of the final Test at Old Trafford to swing the match firmly in England's favour.

    After his dismissal of Hashim Amla for lbw, Ali bowled out Quinton de Kock on just one run, shortly followed by Theunis de Bruyn, who was out for a duck.

    It follows Ali's 75 not out at the crease yesterday.

    South Africa are chasing 380 to win.

    Police are appealing for witnesses to an attempted robbery at a nature reserve near Kidderminster.

    It happened last Thursday morning, when a man in his 40s was riding his mobility scooter and walking his dogs at Burlish Top.

    Police say four men approached the victim before pushing him to the ground.

    Nothing was taken but the victim suffered minor injuries to his face and shoulder.

  18. Funding for childhood cancer research awarded by Herefordshire charitypublished at 16:23 British Summer Time 7 August 2017

    The Hereford-based Little Princess Trust has provided more than £500,000 to fund a number of research studies into childhood cancers.

    The charity, which donates real hair wigs to children who have lost their hair through treatment for cancer and other illnesses, has awarded £537,482 to a total of eight studies into conditions including lymphomas, leukaemia and brain tumours.

    The funding is on top of the more than £500,000 awarded by the trust last year.
