Thursday is going to be a busy day in Hull with the City of Culture team unveiling some, external of the key events that will be taking place throughout the year. 

Here's where you'll be able to find out more and some things you might see in the City.

0800 Hull Freedom Chorus will greet visitors to the city by singing at Paragon station

0830-1000 Pupils from the Sirius Academy will find out about Hull 2017

1130-1400 A sculpture by artist Debi Keable will appear in the city and East Riding's town crier Michael Wood will be telling people in Bransholme more about the culture plans

1300 Businesses and media representatives will meet with the CEO of Hull 2017, Martin Green to find out more about the programme of events

Hull FC's Gareth Ellis and Danny Houghton have been nominated for the Super League Man of Steel award. 

They've been two of the club's stand out performers so far this year and calls are mounting for Houghton to represent England in the Four Nations in October.

North East Lincolnshire Council says the closure of Pleasure Island is sad news as the attraction has been part of the local fabric of the community for several years.

One of our area's biggest tourist attractions is to close.

BBC Radio Humberside have confirmed with Pleasure Island bosses that the attraction in Cleethorpes will shut.

Earlier this year the park had to close temporarily because of bad weather affecting trading.

Highways England say that one lane will remain closed on the A63 tonight.

Drivers in Hull are being advised to allow extra time for their journeys while Yorkshire Water continues to carry out emergency repairs to a manhole.

One lane is currently closed on the eastbound carriageway near Daltry Street flyover to remove a manhole.

The lane closure has been in place since work started last night (Tuesday) and is expected to remain in place until 06:00 tomorrow (Thursday).

Delays of up to 120 minutes and some cancellations on First Hull Trains between Kings Cross and Grantham.

It's due to a trespass incident at Alexandra Palace.

He's big in Germany but ask people in his hometown of Grimsby who Freddie Frinton is and they'll probably never have heard of him. 

Born in Grimsby in 1909 he was an English comedian and music hall and TV actor who's very well known in Germany because of his performance in the film Dinner for One. 

Next week a Blue Plaque will be unveiled to honour him in Cleethorpes which is where Freddie first performed on the beach.

A group of politicians from the US is visiting the Humber region today to find out more about the renewables industry. 

They've spent the morning in Hull, and will be visiting Grimsby and Scunthorpe to see how offshore wind power is being developed. 

It's hoped it'll help local businesses build stronger ties with America.

Millions of us are affected by financial fraud every year and now Humberside Police is backing a national campaign to stamp it out.

It's called Take Five and is being led by Financial Fraud Action UK Ltd., external

The idea is to take a step back, take a breath and not feel pressured if you're ever asked to hand over your personal or financial information, say over the phone or via email.

Advice from the police if you think there's been fraud on your card or bank account - or if you suspect anyone has attempted to obtain your financial details - is to report it immediately to your financial services provider then contact Action Fraud , externalon 0300 123 2040.

Complaints about Yorkshire Water have gone up by more than 11% over the last year. 

The Consumer Council for water says the company received the second highest number of complaints in England and Wales, largely about its sewer network which struggled to cope with winter flooding.

Motorists will be able to use East Riding Council car parks for free in the four weekends before Christmas. 

County Hall has announced the move which is designed to support local shops. 

The first free day will be Saturday, 3 December, which coincides with 'Small Business Saturday'.

Despite beginning the season promisingly under Mike Phelan (pictured), Potters assistant boss Mark Bowen has been dismissive of City's current mid-table position.

A Hull charity says council plans to stop charities using Household Waste and Recycling Centres for free could mean it would close.

Rerun Furniture Service Ltd wants the council to rethink its plans.

Hull City Council says it will be writing to the affected charities later this week to kick-start a 12-week consultation process regarding the proposed changes. 

It adds that no decisions will be made until the New Year and charities may continue to use these sites until further notice.  

The local authority has to make £30m worth of savings by 2020.
