Yorkshire will be hosting one of the world's most famous road cycling events in 2019, it has been announced in the last few minutes.
The region has been chosen to be the venue for the UCI Road World Championships in three year's time.
The race is the second biggest in cycling after Le Tour de France. The bid was put together by Welcome to Yorkshire, British Cycling, UK Sport and the Department for Culture, Media and Sport.
The government has promised to invest £24m into the event.
The news was announced by UCI President Brian Cookson OBE from Doha, Qatar which is currently hosting the race.
Britain will host cycling's Road World Championships for the first time in 37 years after Yorkshire was awarded the 2019 event.
The county hosted the opening stage of the Tour de France in 2014 and has since held two editions of a three-day stage race, the Tour of Yorkshire.
Welcome to Yorkshire led the bid with partners UK Sport and British Cycling.
"We're thrilled for everyone involved, and everyone who loves cycling," Welcome to Yorkshire chief executive Sir Gary Verity said.

The disgraced former Tory councillor Dominic Peacock is attending a council meeting for the first time since the end of June.
He was thrown out of the East Riding's ruling Tory group then after posting offensive comments online about the late MP Jo Cox - and later cautioned by the police.
If Mr Peacock had not attended a council meeting by the end of next month he would have been automatically removed from the council leading to a bye-election.

It's looking likely that many of East Yorkshire's minor injuries (MIU) units will close.
The Clinical Commissioning Group has released a draft consultation document in which they want to replace the area's five current units with two or three Urgent Care Centres.
Withernsea, Hornsea and Driffield could loose their MIU all together.
I met up with June Barton of Hornsea Cottage Hospital League of Friends and Barbara Jefferson who is a local campaigner.
