    There's confusion over the future of Grimsby Town boss Paul Hurst this lunchtime. 

    BBC Radio Humberside understands Shrewsbury Town have made an official approach to the Mariners for their manager. 

    However, Grimsby say no such approach has been made at this stage. 

    We'll hope to have more on this developing situation throughout the afternoon.

    The Liberal Democrats have gained a seat on the East Riding Council.

    Denis Healy (pictured) took the seat in Beverley's St Mary's Ward from the ruling Conservatives.

    The vacancy arose following the death of councillor Irene Charis who died in August.

    Northern Powerhouse minister and Brigg and Goole MP Andrew Percy says councillors will have to explain to voters why they've walked away from half a billion pounds. 

    Lincolnshire county council rejected plans to for a Greater Lincolnshire authority which would include a directly elected mayor.

  5. Hull man's £40,000 spending spreepublished at 10:59 British Summer Time 21 October 2016

    A Hull man has been sent back to prison after a court heard that he'd been on a £40,000 luxury spending spree with money from crime.

    Back in April, less than a year after his last spell in prison, 30 year old Benjamin Barnes from Council Avenue in Gipsyville, was pulled over by police.

    He was on his way back from Leeds, where he'd spent thousands of pounds on luxury clothes and jewellery.

    During searches, police found weapons and huge amounts of cash both on Mr Barnes' person and at his home and business addresses.

    The judge at Hull Crown Court (pictured) sentenced Barnes to three years and three months in prison, confiscated his weapons and drugs and ordered he should face a further Proceeds of Crime hearing.

    Here are the finalists in our search for the BBC's Face of Hull 2017.

    • They area Simon Richardson - a call centre worker from Hull.
    • Kofi Smiles - who is currently working as an administrator at the job centre in Hull
    • Lucy Clark who works in sales at a waste management company in Hull.

    We'll find out who get's the job next Thursday (27 October 2016).

    It's England's largest parish church and even though work is underway on it, Hull's Holy Trinity Church has been put on the Heritage at Risk Register, external

    For the first time, Historic England has carried out research in to the state of the country's larger parish churches. 

    The register is designed to help these important buildings to attract funding for the urgent repairs. In this case it's the central nave roof which is leaking quite badly.

    Currently moored up in Hull marina is a very special boat called HMS Pickle. 

    It's a replica of the boat which brought back the news of our victory after the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805.

    Today marks the anniversary of the battle and to remember it, there'll be a re-enactment on the Humber tomorrow.

    The Liberal Democrats have gained a seat , externalon the East Riding Council. 

    They've taken a seat in the Beverley St Mary's ward from the ruling Conservatives. 

    The vacancy arose after the death of Conservative councillor Irene Charis (pictured) in August.

    She had been battling cancer.

    The new councillor for St Mary's ward is Liberal Democrat Denis Healy.

  11. Listen: Planned closures of Hull College nurseries could stop parents studyingpublished at 09:04 British Summer Time 21 October 2016

    We're hearing this morning about claims that the closure of nurseries at Hull College could stop parents studying for their futures. 

    The Hull College Group are currently consulting about the closure of their three nurseries. They say they have been loss making for a number of years.

    But Shaune Clarkson at the GMB Union in Hull believes some students may feel forced to leave their studies behind because of the pressure of finding childcare.

    Here's what Gemma Newby, a former student at Hull College who used the nursery in Hull City Centre told us:

    The Hull College Group say students who are eligible to receive support will continue to obtain funding from the college towards the cost of nursery provision.

    Tickton's Kyle Edmund booked his place in the quarter-finals of the European Open in Antwerp with victory over second seed David Ferrer.

    The 21-year-old British number two beat the experienced Spaniard 6-1 3-6 7-6 (7-3) to set up a meeting with Italy's Andreas Seppi.

    Edmund won the opening five games on his way to claiming the first set in just 24 minutes.

    After reaching a career-high ranking of 43 this week, Edmund could break into the top 40 if he beats Seppi on Friday.
