A plan to convert a former primary school building in Hull has been given approval. 

The city council has agreed to let the Newland Avenue Primary School building be turned into flats with eight new dwellings. 

Campaigners had fought to keep the building as a community space. 

Hospital bosses say a cyber attack which caused its computer network to crash resulting in the cancellation of routine operations and outpatient appointments is largely resolved.

Concern is growing for a missing woman from Withernsea, external who is pregnant. 

Jennifer Lyons (also known as Jennifer Dunn) who is 32 was reported missing last night. 

She's missed a medical appointment and has some existing health concerns.

Police are asking anyone with any information to call them on the 101 number.

The campaign to reinstate the rail link between Hull and York via Beverley has had a boost. 

The rail minister Paul Maynard has said it's an "exciting project" and he has promised to look into it further. 

His comments come after a meeting last month with Beverley's MP Graham Stuart and campaigners.

The Hull firm Spencer Rail is building up a business case for reinstating the line.

Hull Kingston Rovers second rower Graeme Horne has signed a one-year deal to stay with the club for 2017. 

He had signed a one-year deal last year with the option of a second (year) and has decided to stay with The Robins. 

Horne says leaving didn't cross his mind once.

A carer has denied taking £287,688 from a 102-year-old woman. 

Julie Sayles, of Sewerby Road, Bridlington, is accused of defrauding the elderly woman in 2014 when she was her carer and worked at Friends of the Elderly in Bridlington. 

The 58-year-old is alleged to have taken £7,688 in February, £150,000 in March, £90,000 in June and £40,000 in July. 

Ms Sayles pleaded not guilty at Hull Crown Court to five counts of fraud by abuse of position and two charges under the Proceeds of Crime Act. 

She is due to stand trial in June 2017.

We reported yesterday that Bignot was expected to speak with the club some time this week.

It will remain mostly dry this afternoon across East Yorkshire and Northern Lincolnshire with plenty of sunny spells for most. 

Thicker cloud is likely along eastern shores, where we could catch a few showers. 

Light winds and temperatures reaching around 10C (50F). 

A charity worker appears in court charged with taking almost £290,000 from a 102-year-old woman she was caring for.

The MP for Cleethorpes, Martin Vickers, wants an overhaul in the ways England deals with the risk of flooding.

A House of Commons Environment and Rural Affairs committee report has said there should be a UK floods supremo, new flooding and coastal boards and a rivers and coastal authority.

MPs said floodwater should be stored on agricultural land, argued for tougher rules on house builders and stricter standards on repairing flooded homes.

The government, however, said it it saw no need for organisational change.

One man has been killed and another seriously injured in a collision between two cars.

A 66-year-old motorist was punched in the face and left with a black eye and bloodied nose after an attack in his own car in Grimsby.

He was driving along Healing Road on Monday when the driver of a grey BMW forced him to stop. 

The driver of the BMW got out of his vehicle and assaulted the 66-year-old through the open window before leaving the scene. 

The suspect is a white man, in his mid-30s and between 5ft 6ins and 5ft 7ins tall with short dark hair.

A Hong Kong firm interested in buying Hull City, external as part of a consortium has confirmed their takeover deal is a "non-exclusive" agreement with the club. 

Meanwhile, Hull City's Robert Snodgrass and David Marshall have been named in the Scotland squad to face England in the World Cup qualifiers.

Did you know that used chewing gum can actually be recycled?

We don't mean it can be chewed again! 

It can be turned into useful stuff such as frisbees, mobile phone covers and even Wellington boots.

Now people in Barton are considering getting Gumdrop bins, which turn a mess like this (pictured) into recycled Wellies.

Almost £400,000 is to be spent on a new so-called "crisis pad" in Hull which will give police a place of safety for people suffering a mental health crisis or distress rather than using a cell or A&E. 

Some of the £400,000 will also go on improving one of the existing health-based places of safety.
