    A new animated video which details the lives of real victims of child sexual exploitation has been launched by the University of York and the charity Basis Yorkshire.

    In a crime survey from the Office of National Statistics, a total of 11% of women and 3% of men aged 16 to 59 said they had been sexually abused as child.

    The objective of the new video is to help those who've experienced sexual abuse, and to show them victims who have managed to move on from what happened to them.

    One person has died and another been left with life-threatening injuries, external after a crash on the A180 in North Lincolnshire last night. 

    The accident happened close to South Killingholme around 21:20 GMT.

    The driver of a Ford Focus Zetec was taken to Hull Royal Infirmary by helicopter where he remains in a stable condition. 

    The driver of a blue Peugeot vehicle died at the scene.

  4. Families of East Yorkshire man jailed in India 'beg' Theresa May for helppublished at 10:35 Greenwich Mean Time 2 November 2016

    The families of six Britons jailed in India are "begging" Prime Minister Theresa May to help with their case.

    The former British soldiers, including Paul Towers from Pocklington,  were imprisoned in India for firearms offences.

    The men had been working on an anti-piracy ship and were arrested in October 2013. 

    They were jailed at a court hearing in January for five years.

    A Foreign Office spokeswoman said Mrs May would raise the issue with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a visit next week.

    There are fears that Grimsby's fish processors could be forced to pay more for fish when Icelandic fishermen take strike action next week. 

    It's after Icelandic crews failed to reach agreement with their employers over pay rates. 

    Around two-thirds of the fish that arrives in Grimsby comes from Iceland.

    Following earlier problems this morning with the Hull City of Culture website we're being told that applicants for Hull City of Culture's New Year's Day fireworks display, external have seen some progress.

    A batch of 15,000 tickets became available from 08:00 this morning, with 10,000 more being released on Saturday. 

    This morning the City of Culture website was suffering a technical problem, frustrating would-be applicants.

    Now users are getting messages telling them where they are in a queue.

    The site offering free tickets for the firework display to mark the beginning of Hull's year as UK City of Culture crashed this morning. People are now queuing for up to an hour for tickets.

    The first 15,000 tickets for the 1 January event were made available online at 08:00 GMT, external

    A further 10,000 tickets will be released on 5 November.

    High demand for tickets to an acrobatic performance in June also caused the online booking system to crash.

    Organisers claim the fireworks display will be bigger than London's New Year's Eve event.

    The Hull City of Culture website has crashed this morning preventing many people ordering tickets for the launch event.

    The opening event of the City of Culture celebrations will be a firework display above the Humber on New Year's Day.
