    Sean Priestley, 50, was last seen yesterday afternoon outside Barclays Bank in Bradford and police believe could be in the seaside town.

    West Yorkshire Police said officers and Mr Priestley's family are concerned for his welfare.

    The University of Hull has thanked people for donating to a memorial fund started after the death of Libby Squire.

    More than £3,400 has been donated so far and, writing on Twitter, the university said people's "kindness has been overwhelming".

    It said: "As a student, Libby took our city and our university into her heart, and we've all been deeply affected by her loss."

    The funds will be used to offer an annual Libby's Prize in memory of the 21-year-old philosophy student, whose body was found last month after she disappeared while on a night out in January.

    A £3,800 clean-up operation has taken place to remove 5.5 tonnes of waste from the side of a road in Hull.

    Council workers spent two days cleaning Cumbrian Way, in the Bransholme area of the city, removing "a large amount of fly-tipped rubbish".

    Hull City Council said it takes fly-tipping "very seriously" and spends more than £250,000 a year "cleaning up after people".

    A drugs company, which makes a heroin substitute and has a research centre in Hull, has seen its shares fall after the US Department of Justice charged it with fraudulent marketing.

    Indivior, which opened its research centre on Henry Boot Way in 2017, makes products to help wean addicts off illegal street drugs.

    But the London-listed company has been indicted by a federal grand jury in Virginia on charges including conspiracy to commit wire fraud, mail fraud and healthcare fraud.

    Indivior, which calls itself the "world leader in addiction treatment", has issued an eight page rebuttal contesting the charges.

    Road markings on Hull's North Bridge are being repainted this morning, with motorists being advised to use an alternative route.

    Work started at 09:30, with motorists advised to go via Drypool Bridge but pedestrians and cyclists are able to access it as normal.

    Traffic flow on North Bridge is being "managed manually" with barriers dropped and lifted intermittently to keep traffic moving "as normally as possible".

    Hull City Council estimates the work will be completed by noon.

    A 54-year-old woman's been arrested in a drugs raid in East Yorkshire following a tip-off from concerned residents.

    Police say the woman was taken into custody after a number of items, including mobile phones, drugs and drug paraphernalia, were seized from an address on Kent Road in Goole.

    Officers say they received information drugs were being dealt from the address and served the warrant shortly before 21:00 last night.

    The woman was questioned and released under investigation, police say.

    Old explosives were found washed up in East Yorkshire during a beach clean-up meaning bomb disposal experts had to be called to the scene.

    The ordnance was found by volunteers during the Plastic-Free Hornsea beach clean, with Humber Coastguard notified.

    The items were found near Mappleton on Saturday, with the Army attending the following day to search for the items after the tide receded.

    Explosives specialists removed items for disposal including one which appeared to be a bomb with the remains of a parachute still attached.

    Thieves tried to steal cigarettes from a delivery driver outside a shop in Bridlington this morning and police are linking it to a robbery a month earlier.

    A driver was threatened by a pair of men, one wielding a metal bar, as he made a drop on Flamborough Road at 07:00.

    The driver suffered a minor injury to his hand, with the pair running off empty handed, escaping by scaling a fence on Lamplugh Lane.

    Police say this is linked to a similar incident on Thursday 7 March, when a single suspect stole 6,000 cigarettes from another driver after threatening him.

    Det Sgt Carl Sweeting said: “During both of these incidents the suspects acted in the same way, were after the same goods, and escaped in the same direction from the same shop around the same time of day."

    Voter turnout for the local elections in Hull is among the worst in England, according to Electoral Commission figures.

    Only 25.3% of registered voters returned a ballot compared to 47.7% in Kingston upon Thames, with the England average at 35%.

    Hull residents have until Friday to register for this year's elections, which is set to take place on Thursday 2 May.

  20. Sub Focus to play Hull's 'alternative' end of year ballpublished at 15:37 British Summer Time 9 April 2019

    The first acts have been announced for an "alternative" end of year ball for students in Hull.

    Organisers describe it as the "summer party to end all parties" and it will take place at the Polar Bear, the Welly and the Asylum nightclub.

    Drum and bass star Sub Focus, indie band the Pigeon Detectives and DJ Jaguar Skills are the first three acts to be announced.

    A total of 30 acts will be performing as part of the event, called the End, which is expected to start at 14:00 on the 25 May and go on until 03:00 the following day.

    According to a Facebook page for the event, it will mark "the start of a new adventure, the end of another university year, the kick off of your summer break,the finale of your university experience".
