    Plans to open new grammar schools in England appear to have been accidentally caught by a photographer.

  2. Calais migrants: Work to start on UK-funded wallpublished at 12:05 British Summer Time 7 September 2016

    Construction of a UK-funded wall near Calais' so-called Jungle migrant camp will begin very soon, a minister says.

    Dubbed the "Great Wall of Calais", external by some media, the 4m (13ft) wall will run for 1km (0.6 miles) along both sides of the main road to Calais port.

    The skyline in part of Kent has been altered forever after one of the tallest concrete structures to be demolished in the UK was blown up.

    Experts detonated the 801ft (244m) chimney of the defunct Grain A Power Station earlier, creating about 40,000 tonnes of concrete rubble.

    Taller than 55 double-decker buses stacked on top of each other and more than double the height of Big Ben, the structure has been a prominent feature of the Medway skyline for more than 30 years.

    Garry Hassell from the RMT union has told BBC South East he thinks the dispute with Southern could last until Christmas.

    Police intervened when 50 pupils were sent home from school for wearing the wrong uniform on the first day of term.

    A PCSO based at Hartsdown Academy in Margate, external, along with officers passing the school, stepped in after a "disturbance" outside the gates. Read the full story here.

    It's become a critical battle in a wider war over how the railways are staffed in future.

    The government wants to save money and that inevitably means changing the roles of some of the people who work there. Moving to "driver-only-operated" trains in franchises is a way to cut costs.

    The unions say that threatens jobs, so they've drawn a line in the sand. No more driver-only trains.

    Both sides have a lot at stake. Whatever happens on Southern could set the tone for other rail franchises coming up in the future.

    These old photos have just been printed after more than 100 years.  

    Captain William Chambers died aged 21 in a routine reconnaissance mission over France in May 1918 and his pictures never surfaced.

    Vinod Budhathoki is a military athlete who's going to Rio, not to take part, but as part of a programme to inspire future Paralympians. 

    He lost his legs and an index finger in May 2010 after stepping on an IED while on patrol in Helmand Province and now has two prosthetic legs. The soldier from Maidstone is hoping to compete at the 2020 Paralympics.
