There's been a dramatic rise in the number of assaults recorded on South East Coast Ambulance Service (Secamb) crews.

In total there were 207 attacks logged last year, a 64% increase on the year before.

The majority of the incidents in the last year were alcohol-related but also involved people who were using recreational drugs and those suffering a mental health problem.

Last week MPs debated whether there should be a specific offence for assaulting doctors and nurses.

Ambulance trusts nationally are looking at whether to introduce body worn video cameras for the first time.

It's one of the most congested motorways in Europe, with thousands of people driving on it every day.

But where are the "traffic hotspots" on the M25?

Latest figures from Highways England shows the junction that had the longest average delays between 2015 and 2016 was the A282 in Kent going northbound between the A296/A225 and A206, near the Dartford Crossing.

Most of the others in the top ten were around junctions 12, 13, 14 and 15 in Surrey.

Business groups are warning about the impact of congestion on roads across the region, if it gets worse in the future.

The Enterprise M3 Local Enterprise Partnership says that future economic growth could "choked off" if there is no investment to reduce it and suggests some firms could eventually move out of the area.

A baby girl whose remains were found in a Kent street was believed to have been newborn, police have said.

Officers are keen to locate the mother of the child after the remains were found in Broadway, Sheerness, on Saturday afternoon.

Kent Police said the identity of the dead child is still not known and neither is the cause of death.

Det Insp Richard Vickery said the remnants of a small fire were found at the scene.

The fire is thought to have been started between 10:00 GMT and 12:30.

Officers received a report the remains had been found just before 12:50 GMT.

Det Insp Vickery said: "We're very keen to locate the mother of this girl as we are concerned for her wellbeing and want to make sure she is receiving the necessary emotional and medical support."

He appealed to hear from anyone who was in Broadway on Saturday morning. Officers have said information will be handled sensitively.

  16. Dartford Crossing excluded from pollution assessmentspublished at 07:28 Greenwich Mean Time 6 March 2017

    Dartford Crossing

Pollution levels around the Dartford Crossing have been excluded from government air quality assessments because it was classed as a "rural" road, the BBC has discovered.

Despite carrying 50 million vehicles a year, the status meant nitrogen dioxide recordings were not reported to the EU.

Consisting of the Dartford Tunnel and QEII Bridge, the crossing - officially known as the A282 - connects the M25 north and south of the River Thames.

    It has now been reclassified.

In a letter obtained by the BBC, government minister Therese Coffey conceded the error.
