An artist has turned a Corvette bonnet into a sculpture to celebrate the life of the US singer Prince, who died last year.

Kent sculptor Guy Portelli, known for his series of "pop Icon" artworks, said he began with the car hood as a canvas, to start with one of the most popular of Prince's songs, and then created patterns, to add a Paisley Park theme - and birds, for When Doves Cry.

"Before you know it you have a portrait of the artist through song titles," he said.

The sculpture will be on show at Chelsea Art Fair from Thursday.
