    A driver has died after his car hit a bollard and then a wall in Bamber Bridge.

    The 45-year-old suffered fatal head injuries after his black Mercedes C180 crashed at the junction of Chorley Road and Renshaw Drive at about 02:20 BST on Sunday.

    He died later at Royal Preston Hospital.

    Lancashire Police are appealing for witnesses.

    A leading healthcare analyst says it is still "too early" to declare Greater Manchester’s pioneering health system a success.

    It is three years today since responsibility for health and social care was largely taken over from the NHS.

    Since 1 April 2016, the £6bn health and social care budget has been managed by councils and health groups as part of an extension of devolved powers.

    Experts support the idea but they say they are still waiting for conclusive results.

    A bookmakers in Bolton has been held up by a masked armed robber who came "crashing through the ceiling", police have said.

    A female worker was greeted by the falling robber as she opened up Ladbrokes on Tonge Moor Road just after 08:00 BST this morning.

    Armed with a knife, the 5ft 4in man charged at the "shocked" woman, grabbed her and tied her up, Greater Manchester Police said.

    He then fled through the rear of the bookmakers with cash.

    A Macclesfield Town supporters' group has threatened to stop giving money to the club after players and staff were not paid March's wages on time and a terrace was closed at Moss Rose.

    Silkmen Supporters' Trust also said in an open letter, external that it would request all volunteers withdraw their labour.

    It is the second successive month, and third time this season, wages have been paid late by the League Two strugglers.

    "The SST board is not prepared to just sit back," the letter continued.

    "If a satisfactory response is not received by 5pm on Monday 1st April 2019, the SST board will undertake serious consideration as to not only initiating a request for ALL volunteers to withhold the labour that they currently freely provide to the club, but withdrawal of all monetary support and Super Silk Lotto to the club until a prompt and successful resolution of these issues."

    A man who hurled a petrol bomb at a house in Cheshire is being sought by police.

    The bomb was thrown at the porch of the home in Leyland Walk, Winsford, before bouncing into the garden and starting a fire.

    The suspect then fled and the home's occupants and a neighbour were able to put out the flames. Nobody was injured.

    Police said they were treating the attack, which happened at at 23:20 GMT on Friday, as an "isolated incident".

    The blaze caused minor damage to the outside of the home.

    Former Ch Supt Duckenfield, 74, denies the gross negligence manslaughter of 95 Liverpool fans.

    Judge Sir Peter Openshaw told Preston Crown Court the six men and six women he would accept majority verdicts of at least 10-2.

    He also said he would accept majority verdicts for a charge under the Health and Safety at Work Act against ex-Sheffield Wednesday club secretary Graham Mackrell.

    Ninety-six people were killed in the disaster at the FA Cup semi-final in Sheffield on 15 April 1989.

    A former prisoner who now has a job as a youth worker in Greater Manchester has said extra powers to allow police to stop and search suspects is not the answer to solving knife crime.

    Challenge for Change's Dean Lynch said police workload "is already overflowing" and that increased powers for stop and search "won't work".

    The charity runs an indoor activity centre in Trafford which works to help young people avoid becoming involved in knife crime.

    Merseyside and Greater Manchester Police are among seven forces where officers can now use the extended and often controversial powers.

    Pogba described the Spanish giants as "a dream club for every player" while on international duty with France, and Real boss Zinedine Zidane has said he likes the 26-year-old "a lot".

    But Solskjaer said on Monday: "He didn't talk about himself.

    "He said anyone would like to play for Real Madrid."

    The Blackpool-born actress, a cousin of Dame Helen Mirren, starred alongside Sean Connery in the 1964 spy film.

    She had been working as a model when she was cast by producer Albert "Cubby" Broccoli. But it proved to be her only Hollywood role.

    Detectives investigating the attack on Eileen Blane in February 2017 are urging those who know her killer's identity to "do the right thing".

    Mrs Blane was thrown to the floor and had her wedding ring taken from her finger during the raid in Stretford.

    A £50,000 reward remains on offer for information leading to a conviction.

    Police in England and Wales are being given greater stop and search powers to tackle rising knife crime.

    Home Secretary Sajid Javid is making it easier for officers to search people without reasonable suspicion in places where serious violence may occur.

    It comes after fatal stabbings rose last year to the highest point since records began.

    The change is being trialled in seven police force areas where more than 60% of knife crime occurs: London, the West Midlands, Merseyside, South Yorkshire, West Yorkshire, South Wales and Greater Manchester.

    A vehicle is thought to have been used to break through a security gate on Saturday before being driven on the track after the 12th fence.

    "I believe it was a 4x4 but we are waiting for CCTV footage," said clerk of the course Andrew Tulloch.

    "It is superficial damage but disappointing for everyone. It's a shame but the show goes on."

    He added: "They've put all this work in building up to the highlight of the year and we want it in the best possible condition. It's grass marks basically."

    He was injured in a disturbance involving group of youths outside eastZeast restaurant in Bury at about 21:55 GMT on Saturday.

    The boy was taken to hospital with serious injuries and is in a stable condition, police said.

    A 17-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of violent disorder and remains in custody.
