    We'll get the odd shower to end the afternoon with bright or sunny spells. Any showers will die away this evening a minimum temperature of 4C (39F) Gentle to moderate southerly winds.

    Tomorrow, we're in for a cloudy start with outbreaks of rain gradually clearing east. Sunny spells developing but by the afternoon showers too. Feeling fresher with a light breeze and a maximum temperature of 9C (48F)

    The latest headlines this evening in West Yorkshire include:

    • It's the last day for people in Armley Leeds to have their say about street drinking amid claims that it's getting out of control
    • A winning lottery ticket bought in Leeds has gone unclaimed, meaning the £1m prize will go to charity
    • Streets on a new estate built on the site of a former a West Yorkshire colliery are being named after people involved in the pit's history
  5. Pontefract's Prince of Wales colliery remembered in housing estatepublished at 17:05 British Summer Time 8 April 2016

    Here's a bit more about the housing estate that's having the roads named after people who used to work there when the site was a mine.

    The former Prince of Wales colliery in Pontefract, West Yorkshire closed in 2002 with the loss of 500 jobs.  

    Colin Butterwick Square has been named after a long-time worker at the pit who is to attend the unveiling ceremony.

    Lord Lofthouse, former miner and the town's MP, and Victorian entrepreneur John Rhodes, owner of the pit's first mining rights are also honoured.

    A mother and her five-year-old daughter have gone missing from Leeds, say West Yorkshire Police.

    Georgette Ayeh, 39, and her daughter were reported missing from the Harehills area yesterday lunchtime.

    Here's a nice tale for a Friday. Two 80-year-olds from two very different parts of the world who have been pen pals for 70 years have been talking about their relationship.

    John Milne lives in Horsforth with his wife Heather. He started writing to Mary Renner from New Zealand in the 1940s. They're still in touch - and even better Mary's here in Leeds. 

    In a world of email and twitter, what's kept them writing all these years? BBC Radio Leeds reporter Charles Heslett went to find out

    Leeds West Labour MP Rachel Reeves, says she's very uncomfortable with what's emerging from David Cameron's tax affairs.

    Nationally, her party has called for David Cameron to make a full statement to the Commons about his family's tax affairs.

    It comes after he conceded that he'd owned shares in an offshore fund set up by his father. The PM said he sold the shares in 2010 and had paid all the relevant UK taxes. 

  11. Woman, 94, left with fractured shoulder after taxi theftpublished at 14:22 British Summer Time 8 April 2016

    A 94-year-old woman from Bradford has suffered a fractured shoulder after the taxi she was getting in was stolen.

    West Yorkshire Police say, external the taxi driver was helping her get into the black VW Passat when a man jumped in and drove away. 

    The injured woman is in a stable condition in hospital today following the incident in the Asda car park in Rooley Lane at around 15:00 yesterday.

    • Someone in Leeds has missed out on a £1m Lottery win after a ticket went unclaimed

    This morning I've been telling you about the poster that's gone up in Halifax and Wakefield which shows an injured sheep, alongside the slogan "I don't belong on your plate or in your wardrobe... choose vegan."

    They've been put up by PETA, the animal welfare charity. There have been questions over where the picture was taken and if the charity are alleging that British farmers are mistreating their stock.
