Local star Kathryn Hanke was named Best Actor at the Discover Film awards, external for her role in a short picture called Polterheist. 

The film's set in Bradford, and is said to be about "guns, gangsters and ghosts," it sees Kathy play a psychic possessed by the ghost of a dead criminal.

A senior Bradford politician has called on the Labour Party to suspend Bradford MP Naz Shah. 

The member of parliament for Bradford West stepped down earlier today as parliamentary private secretary to shadow chancellor John McDonnell after the emergence of a Facebook post she made in 2014. 

Bradford Council's Conservative group leader Simon Cooke is now pressuring the Labour Party to suspend Shah and investigate the post, in which she apparently suggested Israel should be moved to the United States.

Thousands of junior doctors in West Yorkshire have joined the NHS's first "all-out" strike across England. 

The two days of action follow a dispute over a new contract which the Government plans to impose by the summer despite protests from the British Medical Association. 

Doctor Daniel Pennells is a junior doctor and part of an on-going protest outside the NHS headquarters in Leeds and he told BBC Radio Leeds why he is striking.

A Labour MP has stepped down as an aide to the shadow chancellor over a Facebook post suggesting Israel should be moved to the United States.

Naz Shah has apologised for sharing the graphic showing Israel's outline superimposed onto a map of the US with the comment "problem solved".

It was shared in 2014, before she became Bradford West MP.

A West Yorkshire Conservative MP has accused junior doctors of "radical" behaviour as thousands of junior doctors have joined the NHS's first "all-out" strike across England.

All-out strike action is taking place between  0800 and 1700 today and tomorrow,

Morley and Outwood's Andrea Jenkyns says the union representing the doctors has already been given most of what they wanted by the government.

A Punjabi movie megastar has announced a one-off appearance, external in West Yorkshire.

Diljit Dosanjh, who combines his life as a film star with a career as one of the top stars in the Punjabi music industry, will play the Leeds Arena next month. 

Dosanjh has dozens of singles, albums, awards and movie credits to his name. One of his best known films is Jatt and Juliet, which saw him named best actor at the Punjabi Film Awards.

An author inspired by West Yorkshire's infamous Shannon Matthews saga is hosting a literary event with a difference later today, external.

The writer's called Wes Brown, and he'll be leading a guided tour around the locations in Leeds which feature in his novel, When Lights are Bright.

The book grew out of events around the disappearance of Dewsbury schoolgirl Shannon and English Defence League protests which were happening around the same time.

The first all-out doctors' strike in the history of he NHS has begun in England with ministers admitting it's a "bleak day" for the health service.

But Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt again reiterated that the government would not back down and halt the imposition of the new contract.
