    Castleford Tigers have signed Widnes winger Paddy Flynn on loan for the rest of the season.

    The 28-year-old had been a regular for Widnes over the last two seasons, but has made just one appearance for them this campaign.

    Castleford Tigers head coach Daryl Powell is delighted to add strength to his squad at a time when injuries are taking their toll.

  2. Travel update: M62 closed eastbound at J21published at 11:54 British Summer Time 3 May 2016

    The M62 is closed. There is queuing traffic and very long delays eastbound between J21, A640 (Milnrow) and J22, A672 (Rishworth Moor), because of an accident involving a lorry and recovery work. Congestion is backing up to J19, A6046 (Heywood).

    A diversion is in operation at J21 - travel Southeast towards Denshaw, to return to J22 via A672 Ripponden Road.

  3. Teenager stabbed near Huddersfieldpublished at 11:40 British Summer Time 3 May 2016

    West Yorkshire Police are appealing for information after a teenager was stabbed, external in Crosland Moor, near Huddersfield.

    At about 18.40 on Sunday 1 May police were called by the ambulance service to a report of a male with stab wounds at a house in Row Street.

    Officers attended and found a 17-year-old male had suffered wounds to his chest and arm.

    He was taken to hospital, where he remains today in a stable condition.

    Bathroom supplier Ultra Finishing Limited, external, which has its offices in Gibbet Street, Halifax, has agreed to pay a fine of £826,000 after admitting trying to stop retailers from discounting online prices.

    Loud bangs heard in parts of Yorkshire were sonic booms from Typhoon jets scrambled to identify "an unresponsive civilian aircraft", the RAF has said.

    The aircraft were launched from RAF Coningsby, in Lincolnshire, on Monday and helped guide an Air France plane to a safe landing in Newcastle.

    People reported their houses shaking at about 21:50 after hearing what sounded like two loud explosions.

    Former Castleford and Hull KR half-back Roger Millward has died at the age of 68.

    Millward started his career at Castleford, his hometown club, winning the BBC Floodlit Trophy in 1965, a year before his move to Hull KR. 

    He was awarded an MBE in 1983 and inducted into the Rugby League Hall of Fame in 2000.

    There are currently no delays or disruptions on Northern Rail, Cross Country, First TransPennine Express or Virgin East Coast trains running into Leeds Station.

    As for Bradford Interchange, lines into the station are running to time on Northern Rail trains.

    If you're travelling into Bradford Forster Square, all is running to time.
