  2. Two men arrested in Bradford in child sexual exploitation investigationpublished at 12:34 British Summer Time 13 July 2016

    Two men from Bradford have been arrested today in connection with the ongoing investigation into child sexual exploitation in Rotherham.

    National Crime Agency officers arrested the men this morning at separate addresses in the city.  

    Both were arrested on suspicion of trafficking for the purposes of sexual exploitation. The offences are believed to have taken place against two girls, aged 16 and 17.

    Operation Stovewood has now made a total of nine arrests.

  3. 'Split-second' lapse caused fireball crash killing two riderspublished at 12:18 British Summer Time 13 July 2016

    A "split-second lack of concentration" caused a head-on crash which killed two riders, an inquest has concluded.

    Lewis Clark, 22, from Pontefract, West Yorkshire, and Christian Berkhan, 53, from Germany, died on 30 August 2015.

    Isle of Man

    The accident was caused by a "split-second lack of concentration" when Mr Berkhan failed to correct his position on the road sufficiently after overtaking another bike, the court was told.

    Seconds later, his Ducati collided with Mr Clark's Yamaha.

    In a written statement, a witness said an "enormous fireball" happened immediately.

    She is about 5ft 3ins tall, slim, has a tongue piercing and was last seen wearing black trousers, a black jumper and a blue polo shirt.Anyone with information is asked to contact police in Bradford on 101, quoting log 675 of 12 July.

    A bit more on the body that was found in Wakefield yesterday. 

    A man was found in bushes in the Cathedral Retail Park, he is believed to be 42 years old. 

    Police say that inquiries are ongoing and a post mortem examination will be carried out today to find out how he died.

    Bradford and Leeds feature are among the worst cities in England for counterfeit goods, a BBC investigation shows.

    A spokeswoman for the Anti-Counterfeiting Group said it was difficult to get a true picture of the scale of the problem because of differences in the way councils record their figures.

    A study partly carried out in Leeds has helped prove there's a link between having red hair and getting skin cancer

    Experts say there is an inherited ginger gene which increases the risk. In the first study of its kind, it's looked at tumours in more than 400 people from all over the world. 

    The gene associated with red hair, pale skin and freckles can increase the risk of skin cancer, by the equivalent of 21 extra years of sun exposure. 

    Researchers at the University of Leeds say it's the first time a study has shown a direct link between having red hair and skin cancers with multiple mutations.

    A man who received the UK's first hand transplant has used it to save his wife's life. 

    Mark Cahill, from Greetland near Halifax, who had the ground-breaking operation in Leeds four years ago, found his wife Sylvia unresponsive in bed and did chest compressions until paramedics arrived.

    "It's gone from a life-changing hand transplant to a life-saving one," the 55-year-old said.

    An 88-year-old woman, armed with just her walking stick, chased off a burglar from her home, external.

    It happened in Ripponden on Sunday at about 19:30 when a man came into her house and stole cash. She chased him off before he could steal anything else.

    Pete Atkinson is an aerobatic flight instructor at Sherburn Aero Club, external near Leeds.

    He's 72 and recently had a double hip replacement. 

    He showed BBC Radio Leeds reporter Tracy Gee (now known in the office as Tracy Gee-Force) how he's getting on with his recovery..

    The body of man has been found at a retail park in Wakefield city centre.

    West Yorkshire Police were called to the Cathedral Retail Park at about 13:00 yesterday, where there had been reports of a body being found in some bushes.

    People will gather in the centre of Bradford later to protest against racism and xenophobia following the EU referendum.

    It's after reports of an increase in hate crimes around the country since the UK voted to leave the EU last month. 

    Tonight's event in Centenary Square has been organised to celebrate the contribution migrants make to our community.
