    Bradford Bulls chairman Marc Green has issued a statement today stressing that he won't be placing the club into administration.

    He's apologised to the players and staff for the current financial instability and says all full and part-time staff will be paid by the weekend.    

  5. Samia Shahid death: MP 'impressed' by Pakistani Police responsepublished at 16:42 British Summer Time 3 August 2016

    The MP for Bradford West, Naz Shah, has been speaking about an investigation into the death of a Bradford woman whose husband claims she was the victim of a so-called honour killing in Pakistan.

    Samia Shahid, 28, died last month in Northern Punjab. Her family had initially claimed she had died of a heart attack,something her husband disputes. He says her relatives killed her because they disapproved of their marriage.

    Today Police have said that Ms Shahid was "clearly strangled" while a forensic examination said that she died from "suffocation".

    Can you believe that the Olympics are just three days away?

    For Team GB medal hopefuls, Leeds brothers Alistair and Jonny Brownlee, they are driven by sibling rivalry. 

    In London it was Alistair who won gold but his younger brother will be hard on his heels in Rio.

  7. Could the 'straddling bus' be the answer to Leeds' transport problems?published at 15:39 British Summer Time 3 August 2016

    Okay, so Leeds has lost out massively recently when it comes to public transport. We lost the Supertram and more recently the idea of a Trolleybus was scrapped.

    The failed projects left more than £170m to be spent on the city's transport infrastructure with nothing to invest in, so maybe we should get one of these...

    Say hello to the "straddling bus". You may have seen a model of it on the internet, but this amazing looking thing ran its inaugural test in China this week.

    The 2m-high Transit Elevated Bus (TEB) straddles the cars below, allowing them to pass through. All good, until you come up against a bloke who's taking his sofa to the tip...

  9. Samia Shahid death: Forensic report shows she was suffocatedpublished at 14:59 British Summer Time 3 August 2016

    A forensic examination on the body of Samia Shahid from Bradford shows that she was suffocated, according to reports in Pakistan.

    The husband of the 28-year-old, believes that she was the victim of a so-called "honour killing" when she went to visit relatives in Punjab. A claim her family dispute.

    Syed Mukhtar Kazam believes she was killed because of her marriage to him, her second husband, but her family say that she died from natural causes.

    The pair married in Leeds in September 2014 after she left her first husband, who was a cousin from Pakistan. 

    Mr Kazam said his wife had been healthy and he did not believe reports of her dying naturally.  

  10. Travel update: A651 in Gomersal closed until next weekpublished at 14:35 British Summer Time 3 August 2016

    The  A651 Oxford Road in Gomersal is still closed in both directions at the A643 Church Lane junction, because of the burst water main from last week.

    Yorkshire Water say that it's likely be shut until early next week. 

    The burst main also caused damage to a gas main, so a lot of work has to be done to repair it.

  13. Wakefield Post Office to move into WHSmith branchpublished at 13:26 British Summer Time 3 August 2016

    Wakefield's main Post Office is to close and move into a WHSmith branch nearby.

    Post Office officials announced the plans earlier this year, and now after a consultation they have confirmed the move will happen.

    The Hepworth Gallery in Wakefield has been awarded over £120,000 from Arts Council England.

    The money will be used to reach new audiences and grow online awareness of the gallery.

    Ever fancied having a go at competitive firework displays?

    No I'd never heard of them either, But a Keighley fireworks company has just won the "Firework Champions" title for the third year running.

    Optimum fireworks beat other leading display teams to take the honours at Newby Hall near Ripon (pictured).

    Each entrant staged a display, choreographed to music.    

  17. Lizzie Armitstead 'hurt' by questions over dopingpublished at 11:46 British Summer Time 3 August 2016

    Lizzie Armitstead has released a statement in the wake of her missed drug tests.

    In a tweet she offers an explanation for why she missed the tests, citing family emergencies, a claim the authority in charge of the test didn't do enough to find her and what she terms "filing failures".

    She also says in the statement that she was tested 16 times this year and has never tested positive for a banned substance or taken one.

    Lizzie Armitstead has taken to Twitter to give her side of the drug test that she had missed in the run up to Rio 2016 Olympics.

    In it she says that she has never taken a banned substance, that she fully supports the testing process and that the missed tests were an "honest mistake".
