    A new collection of essays by black, Asian and minority ethnic writers is set to be published. 

    According to its editor, Nikesh Shukla, The Good Immigrant is "a document of what it means to be a person of colour" in Yorkshire and Britain today.

    Police were called to Queen’s Drive in Ossett at about 21:10 on Friday 30 September.

    It looks like three Kirklees museums could close due to council cost-cutting.

    Dewsbury Museum in Crow Nest Park, Tolson Museum in Huddersfield and the Red House in Gomersal look almost certain to be told they'll be shut down.

    Bronte expert Richard Wilcocks says losing the Red House would be a "tragedy" because one of the famous literary sisters, Charlotte, used it as a setting for one of her novels.

    Any early mist and fog clearing to leave plenty of fine dry, weather with good spells of prolonged sunshine.

    It'll feel chilly first thing but pleasant in the sun later with highs of about 15C (59F).

    It'll be another dry night to come with plenty of clear spells.

    We are at risk of some isolated mist and fog patches forming, particularly further east and it will feel chilly but not as cold as last night with lows of about 11C (52F).

    Urgent changes are needed to the UK visa system to protect migrant workers from being used as domestic slaves, a Leeds-based campaign group has warned.

    Justice 4 Domestic Workers is calling for a better deal for foreign workers, who are employed mainly as nannies or maids in private homes.

    The group, which is based in Leeds and London, supports some of the 17,000 people who come to UK for domestic work each year.

    The Home Office said it is committed to protecting victims of domestic slavery.

  10. Virgin Trains East Coast rail staff strike under waypublished at 08:57 British Summer Time 3 October 2016

    Workers on Virgin Trains East Coast have begun a 24-hour strike in a long-running dispute over jobs.

    The RMT union says about 1,800 members, including train crew and some drivers, are taking action against threatened job cuts and disputes over working conditions and safety.

    General secretary Mick Cash said: "RMT will not sit back while nearly 200 members' jobs are under threat."

    Virgin Trains said it would be running a full timetable during the strike.
