  1. Four things we learned todaypublished at 18:00 Greenwich Mean Time 2 November 2016

That's all from us for today, we'll be back from 08:00 tomorrow with more news, travel, sport and weather.

Until then, I'll leave you with four things we found out today:

    1. West Yorkshire's looking pretty good during autumn
    2. Are we going to get a white Christmas this year? The bookies seem to think so.
    3. It may be a bit late and (quite a bit) over budget, but soon you'll be able to enjoy a gin underneath the streets of Bradford!
    4. We have a new Chief Constable of West Yorkshire Police.
    5. The man who has only taken one day off since the Boxing Day       floods, because he's been helping people. What a great guy!

    See you tomorrow!

  2. Weather: Cold tonight with bright start tomorrowpublished at 17:51 Greenwich Mean Time 2 November 2016

    Owain Wyn Evans
    Weather presenter, BBC Look North

We'll be under clear skies tonight so temperatures will take a tumble yet again. A few patches of frost may form, with lows of around 3C (37F).

Tomorrow we can expect another chilly but bright start to the day. Cloud builds throughout the morning and a band of rain slowly sinks southwards. Generally this rain will be light and patchy.

Check out the outlook for the next few days below:

  3. Pharmacy subsidy cuts 'could see quarter close' says MPpublished at 17:44 Greenwich Mean Time 2 November 2016

Bradford West MP Naz Shah is claiming a quarter of pharmacies in her part of the city will face closure if planned cuts to government subsidies go ahead.

    Pharmacy

She says the changes could lead to tens of thousands more people demanding GP appointments if they can't access chemists. Ministers insist the savings are justified as many pharmacies are clustered together.

    Quote Message

We need to look at people holistically and by taking away services in our community that is not the way we should be providing healthcare services. We cannot and must not look at pharmacies as stand-alone items. They are part of a holistic care package across the board they compliment the NHS."

    Naz Shah MP, Bradford West

  4. Watch: Give the man a medal - award call for tireless volunteerpublished at 17:23 Greenwich Mean Time 2 November 2016

There are calls for a volunteer who has helped hundreds of people affected by the Boxing Day floods across the Calder Valley to be recognised with an official award.

Trevor Bannister, who's only had one day off this year, says he doesn't want any fuss - but those he's helped don't agree:

It happened on 4 September at the Acapulco Nightclub.

As we were telling you earlier, Leeds-based Asda has been using crates as dirty as kitchen bins to deliver food bought online.

Well the supermarket chain has apologised and says it has taken "immediate action".

BBC One's Watchdog programme carried out an undercover investigation after a whistleblower raised concerns.

Tests of bacteria levels on crates from 10 different deliveries found that three were "equivalent to dirt levels of a kitchen floor".

The supermarket said it had ordered the deep cleaning of every home shopping crate and van, and briefing all Asda employees on cleaning and food safety rules.

  8. Don't panic if you saw smoke around Melthampublished at 15:41 Greenwich Mean Time 2 November 2016

You might have seen this huge plume of smoke rising up over moorland near Deer Hill Reservoir this afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the scene.

    Fire

But it turned out to just be a farmer carrying out some "controlled burning".

Both the police and fire crews attended the scene.

Coral says it's also received a flurry of bets for snow before the end of the week - and it's giving odds of 20-1 for this being the coldest winter on record.

  12. Would-be house builders could face penaltiespublished at 14:39 Greenwich Mean Time 2 November 2016

Andrew Carter, Leeds council's opposition leader, wants the government to look into a system of penalties for developers who are found to be "land banking."

Councillor Carter is taking the idea into next week's full meeting of Leeds council, where he'll say the city's target of 70,000 new homes by 2028 is "unrealistic and unnecessary."

  13. Victims of child sexual exploitation tell their storiespublished at 14:26 Greenwich Mean Time 2 November 2016

    Sima Kotecha
    Today programme, BBC Radio 4

A new animated video which details the lives of real victims of child sexual exploitation has been launched by the University of York and the charity Basis Yorkshire.

In a crime survey from the Office of National Statistics, a total of 11% of women and 3% of men aged 16 to 59 said they had been sexually abused as child.

The objective of the new video is to help those who've experienced sexual abuse, and to show them victims who have managed to move on from what happened to them.

The Today programme's Sima Kotecha has spoken to two 17-year-old girls who were groomed by older men over the past couple of years. This is their experience:

  14. Asda's delivery crates as dirty as 'kitchen bins'published at 14:10 Greenwich Mean Time 2 November 2016

Leeds-based Asda has been using crates as dirty as kitchen bins to deliver food bought online, an undercover BBC investigation has found.

    AsdaImage source, PA

The BBC's Watchdog programme carried out tests on some of the crates used to deliver online shopping after a whistleblower raised concerns about cleanliness.

Crates from 10 different deliveries were tested and three were found to be about as dirty as a kitchen floor with two as bad as a kitchen bin. One customer told the BBC she found maggots in a cat food box from an Asda delivery.

The supermarket says it's taken immediate action to improve standards.

An Asda spokesman said: "Our customers expect and deserve the highest standard of service.

"We haven't lived up to this but our customers can trust us to take complaints seriously and do the right thing to resolve them."

  17. MPs call for major reform of flood risk managementpublished at 12:38 Greenwich Mean Time 2 November 2016

In the wake of the devastating floods which hit parts of West Yorkshire last Christmas, a "radical" overhaul of the way flooding is dealt with is being called for by a group of MPs.

The Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Committee says floodwater should be stored on agricultural land, urges tougher rules on house builders and stricter standards on repairing flooded homes.

The government has said it sees no need for organisational change.

The MPs disagree. They are unhappy with the Environment Agency's recent performance over flooding and want to see it stripped of powers which would then be handed to the proposed new bodies.

  18. New Chief Constable for West Yorkshire Policepublished at 12:15 Greenwich Mean Time 2 November 2016
    Breaking

Dee Collins has been announced as the new Chief Constable for West Yorkshire, external.

Mark Gilmore was appointed as the head of the force in April 2013.

Mr Gilmore was suspended just 14 months later, in June 2014, in connection with an investigation into the awarding of vehicle contracts in Northern Ireland.

He was told he had no criminal case to answer last year and his suspension was lifted, but he did not return to his post.

  19. Watch: Underground Bradford venue 'to open in days'published at 12:00 Greenwich Mean Time 2 November 2016

The team behind Bradford's Sunbridge Wells development say they're hoping to open its doors to the public by the end of the month.

The £2m project, which is transforming old tunnels underneath the city into bars, restaurants and shops, has faced long delays and run over budget.

Much of the building work has had to be done without the help of machines due to the location of the site.
