  3. Protestors claim government is being 'misled' over HS2published at 10:06 Greenwich Mean Time 2 November 2016

The government's being misled about the benefits the proposed HS2 high speed rail route between West Yorkshire and London will bring, a new report claims.

An updated route which was announced in July would see the line go through the village of Crofton, near Wakefield.

The Yorkshire HS2 Communities Report, commissioned by residents in affected areas such as Crofton, claims current plans could harm the quality of life of local communities.

Jonathan Pile, co-ordinator of Yorkshire Against HS2, says: "West Yorkshire, Crofton, Hemsworth and areas around Wakefield are going to be devastated with lots of demolition, lots of noise and lots of property blight."

HS2 Ltd says the latest proposals have a lower impact and they'll continue to work with residents to understand their concerns.
