    Police have issued an e-fit image of a man they want to speak to about a burglary in Harrogate.

    A house was burgled on East Parade between about 19:25 and 19:45 on Monday.

    A wildcat strike by post workers in Doncaster has come to an end.

    Members of the Communications Workers Union walked out after allegations of management bullying.

    After talks, the Royal Mail says employees are now back at work and normal deliveries will resume tomorrow.

    Police are "urgently" appealing for help in finding a man who's gone missing from Wakefield.

    Tariq Rashid, 22, was last seen in the city on Wednesday at about 16:30 and police say he may appear "confused or agitated".

    He's described as Asian, of slim build, about 6ft 2ins tall, with black messy medium length hair.

    He was last seen wearing a black Armani jumper with a large beige logo, black jogging bottoms with a white Nike logo and black trainers.   

    He has links to the Huddersfield area. 

    Anyone seeing Mr Rashid is being warned not to approach him, but are instead asked to contact police.

  8. Twenty-one-year-old dies after stabbing in Sheffieldpublished at 13:45 Greenwich Mean Time 24 March 2017

    A 21-year-old man has died after a stabbing at a property in Sheffield

    Emergency services were called to a house in Southey Avenue, Longley at about 21:45 last night, following reports a man had been injured.  

    Police say he was "taken to hospital but sadly died later that evening."

    A murder investigation has begun and a police cordon remains in place at the scene.

    Police are appealing for anyone with information about what happened to contact them.

    A man's died after being seriously injured working in a textile mill near Huddersfield.

    It happened at Victoria Mills in Golcar in the early hours of this morning. 

    Police and the Health and Safety Executive are now investigating how the fifty-one-year-old man died.

    A long-serving West Yorkshire Police Inspector has been sentenced to 26 years in prison, after being found guilty of stealing drugs from an evidence store and selling them on. 

    The judge described 55-year-old Keith Boots of Norman Lane, Eccleshill, Bradford as "a disgrace to to the uniform he once wore".

    He was found guilty following a three-month trial at Leeds Crown Court. 

  12. West Yorkshire council polls had most fraud reportspublished at 12:17 Greenwich Mean Time 24 March 2017

    West Yorkshire Police received the most electoral fraud reports last year , UK police data has revealed.

    The figures show English council elections attracted nearly twice as many fraud reports as the EU referendum.

    Of the 260 complaints made to UK police forces in 2016, 121 were about local government elections and 66 about the referendum.

    The number of voter fraud reports rose - particularly allegations of people voting under someone else's name. 

    West Yorkshire Police received the most electoral fraud reports - 49 - while the Metropolitan Police received 30.

    The Electoral Commission report identified only two local authority areas with more than seven allegations of fraud - Bradford and Kirklees, both in West Yorkshire.

    Doncaster postal workers are "at boiling point" according to their union.

    Staff are on a wildcat strike with the Communication Workers Union (CWU) alleging bullying tactics from Royal Mail managers.

    Branch Secretary of the Doncaster CWU, Steve West, described the mood at the sorting office:

    Royal Mail says the customer enquiry office at their centre in Balby is open.

    However, the firm is warning that deliveries will be disrupted today.

  14. Emergency training exercise in Scarboroughpublished at 11:44 Greenwich Mean Time 24 March 2017

    A "large number" of emergency service vehicles are due to descend on Scarborough's Marine Drive on Saturday morning, North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service is warning, external .

    But fear not - it's only a training exercise to simulate a water rescue incident.

    It's designed to test the working arrangements between the various emergency services involved and is expected to last for about two hours:

    A total of 14 people have been charged over a motorbike "ride out" in Leeds last year.

    About 50 bikers brought a major route into Leeds to a standstill and rode through the city centre on 31 October.

    The 13 men and one woman have been charged with causing a public nuisance.

    One man is also charged with driving while disqualified and without insurance, while another is also charged with perverting the course of justice.   

    They're due to appear at Leeds Magistrates' Court on Thursday 4 May.

    A campaign is being set up in one Yorkshire town by people who are angry about another bank closing. 

    It was announced yesterday that more than 150 Royal Bank of Scotland and NatWest branches are closing, including six in North Yorkshire. 

    The Natwest branches in Haxby in York, Selby, Knaresborough, Tadcaster, Settle and Thirsk will close.

    The company says it's because of changes in the way people use their services.

    East Midlands Trains say, external there's been a failure of the electricity supply at the Doncaster signal box, which is causing problems:

    • Trains are unable to run between Doncaster and Lincoln Central on the Doncaster-Peterborough route
    • No service between Lincoln and Newark Northgate on the Grimsby/Lincoln-Leicester route
    • Trains on the Norwich/Nottingham/Liverpool line are being diverted and won't stop at Grantham
    • Nottingham/Grantham/Skegness trains won't stop at Grantham either

    Workers at Doncaster's Royal Mail delivery centre have gone on strike.

    Members of the Communication Workers Union have taken action over alleged bullying tactics by management.
