    A man has denied being the owner of a dog which attacked and fatally injured a neighbour.

    David Ellam, 52, was attacked as he walked his Yorkshire terrier, Rolo, near his home in Sheepridge, Huddersfield, last August.

    At Leeds Crown Court, Aaron Joseph, 29, denied being the owner of a dog that caused injury while dangerously out of control in a public place.

    Mr Joseph was released on bail and a trial date has been set for 5 February.

    West Yorkshire Fire Service have thanked their colleagues in Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue for their assistance in putting out a fire, external near Rishworth in West Yorkshire on Sunday night.

    The fire was put out by 03:00 on Monday morning.

    More than £12m is to be spent on updating Rotherham's Interchange.

    The site first opened in 1971 and is the main bus terminus for routes into the town.

    The redevelopment was triggered following a fire there in May 2016.

    West Yorkshire MP, Paula Sherriff, is holding a debate in the Commons today about the push to get free sanitary products available in all schools. 

    BBC Radio Leeds found that some girls are skipping school during their periods - because their families can't afford them.

    Well, following my exclusive story this morning thousands of sanitary products were delivered to Freedom4Girls, external to help vulnerable girls in Leeds.

    Waste management company Yorwaste will manage and operate all North Yorkshire County Council's household waste recycling centres, it has been announced.

    The agreement, which comes into force n 1 April, means Yorwaste will manage all 20 sites across North Yorkshire and it will see 84 staff who were employed by previous contractor Kier transfer to Yorwaste.

    Ian Fielding, the council's Assistant Director for Waste and Countryside Services, said users should see little change.

    A North Yorkshire care home has been fined £50,000 following the death of one of its residents. 

    Dora Strickland, who was 90, took her own life by jumping from an upstairs window at the Red Lodge care home in the New Earswick area of York in 2011. 

    The owner of the home, the Joseph Rowntree Housing Trust, was yesterday found guilty of failing to adequately assess the risks she faced.

    The Brexit Secretary David Davis has been talking in the House of Commons about how the government plans to replace all EU laws once the UK leaves the European Union.

    He talked of a "Great Repeal Bill" where EU rules will be brought in to British law before decisions are made on how they are dealt with, amended or scrapped.

    In response, the Sheffield Hallam MP, Nick Clegg feels ministers will soon come to a fork in the road.

    A teenager missing from Leeds has been found safe, say police.

    Charna Plant, 15, was reported missing after being last seen at 12:20 BST on Monday at her home in Kirkstall.  

    West Yorkshire Police say they have now located her.

    Three masked thieves have robbed a shop at knifepoint in North Yorkshire.

    The raid happened when the gang entered the One Stop Shop on North Leas Avenue in Scarborough on Friday 24 March.

    They brandished knives and escaped with cash.

    Police have now released CCTV images from the raid to try and jog people's minds.

    Three people have been arrested and bailed but police want to hear from anyone who may have seen, or knows something about, the robbery.

    The woman found dead in the lake of a popular park in Leeds has been identified.

    Police were called to Waterloo Lake in Roundhay Park at about 09:20 on Tuesday after a man who was out jogging spotted the woman in the water near to the Lakeside Cafe.

    The body was recovered by the fire service and the scene was cordoned off.

    Police now say there are no suspicious circumstances and they have been able to identify her.

    A French Cold War aircraft will arrive at its new home in Yorkshire this afternoon.

    The Mirage Four was built as part of France's independent nuclear deterrent during the war. 

    This one has been given to the Yorkshire Air Museum near York by the French government. It will be the only one on display outside France.

    An inspection of Sheffield Health and Social Care by the Care Quality Commission has rated the Trust "Good". 

    This is an improvement from the previous rating of "requires improvement" with eight out of the 10 core services now rated in the "Good" bracket.
