The 27 men and two women are accused of 170 charges against 18 girls aged between 11 and 17.

We are lucky enough to live in a country where women's struggle for a right to vote is long in the past, but this item from Leeds City Museum is a reminder of a time when that wasn't the case.

The display tells the story of a Leeds suffregette Leonora Cohen who smashed the windows of the Labour Exchange building during a visit from the then Prime Minister, H.H. Asquith.
She also ended up in prison for damaging the cases holding the crown jewels at the Tower of London in 1913.

Sheffield city council have addressed claims that plans to build a new secondary school on an old landfill site an
The decision goes before the planning committee next week - with a recommendation that permission for the new build on Carterknowle Road is granted.
Joel Hardwick, School Organisation Manager at Sheffield City Council, insists they're working hard to ally any concerns:

An ancient Yorkshire abbey is to be brought back to life tonight by being bathed in light and sound.
Image source, PARievaulx Abbey, on the North York Moors, which was dissolved by Henry VIII in 1538, is to be transformed by artist Charles Monkhouse in a four-day event called Brocken Spectre.
In one part of the ruins, people will appear to see a halo effect around their head's shadow, when it's projected onto mist. Other parts of the abbey will also be illuminated.
Image source, PAThe Illumaphonium, a 3.5m tall interactive music installation - pictured below with its creator, Michael Davis - will also be in action.
Once struck, the aluminium chime bars create the patterns of light and sound.

Teenagers robbed at knifepoint in Brighousepublished at 17:17 British Summer Time 12 April 2017
Three teenage boys were robbed of money and clothing at knifepoint in Rastrick, Brighouse, last night.
Image source, GooglePolice say they were approached by two other boys who threatened them with a flick knife and told them to hand over cash and some of their clothes.
The two suspects demanded that the victims hand over one of their jackets, gloves and hat.
It happened at about 19:30 near Carr Green park.

Image source, David BebbennickGreg Mulholland says Leeds City Council's proposals are in "disarray" and he has branded them "half-baked".
He claims that the authority failed to carry out basic checks, including a study on how much parking will be needed, managing traffic flow and where the money will come from.
He suggests they're trying to cover up flaws in the plans, but the council say that they have done the necessary work to raise the funds from ther government and are waiting to hear back from the Department for Transport.

A Sheffield man has been jailed for 24 years for raping a vulnerable woman.

In April last year Rabani - of HMP Marshgate but formerly of Sheffield - offered a lift to his 34-year-old victim in Sheffield city centre.
He then offered her cigarettes, believed to have been drugged, to make her drowsy, before driving her to a remote area outside of the city where he raped her.

Sheffield Steelers head coach Paul Thompson and his assistant Jerry Andersson have both signed new two-year contracts with the club.
Thompson (pictured) delivered a League title in his first year in charge and led them to a play off final win over Cardiff last weekend.

A York-trained nurse who survived Ebola says she's going back to Sierra Leone for the first time since she caught the virus there in 2014.
Pauline Cafferkey was trained at Strensall Barracks before working as a volunteer in the West African country where an epidemic killed almost 4,000 people in 2014.
She'll return next month and take part in a run to raise funds for a charity which helps children affected by Ebola.
She says she hopes the trip will bring some closure to her ordeal:

Thirteen ring-tailed lemurs were welcomed to a new reserve at the Yorkshire Wildlife Park near Doncaster last month.
Now, keen visitors to the park over recent weeks have spotted that number has increased by two.

Twenty-nine people have appeared at court in Huddersfield charged with dozens of historical sexual offences against 18 women.
The offences are alleged to have taken place between 2004 and 2011 and include rape and trafficking of women who were under 18-years-old.
Two women were also charged with child neglect. On arrival at court verbal abuse was shouted at some of the defendants by angry protesters.
Twenty seven male defendents will have their cases heard at Leeds Crown Court next month.

Three people - including a baby in a pushchair - were injured in York yesterday afternoon, as a result of what is being describes an incident involving a police horse.
North Yorkshire Police say that something may have distracted the horse and as a result a baby girl was taken to York District Hospital as a precaution and discharged following treatment.
An 11-year-old girl and a woman in her 60s also suffered minor injuries but did not require hospital treatment.
Extra officers, including mounted police and dog units were deployed in the city centre for the launch of a new scheme to tackle crime and terrorist activity in crowded areas, branded 'Project Servator'.

Police have released CCTV images of 3 people they would like to speak to in relation to a reported burglary in Barnsley.
A house on Ravenna Close, Kendray was reportedly broken into on Friday 24 February, at around midday, with items including electrical equipment, jewellery and cash stolen.
Anyone with information or who knows the men pictured, should call 101 quoting incident number 435.
