Four people were found dead at separate addresses in Barnsley on Good Friday, though South Yorkshire Police now believe one of those deaths was linked to a pre-existing medical condition.

Reports of two more people becoming "gravely ill" after taking suspected illegal substances were also received by South Yorkshire Police on Monday but both survived, the force has revealed.

Ch Supt Rob Odell, from South Yorkshire Police, says: "I appreciate that these are concerning events and I’d urge anyone with concerns about this matter to either contact police or, if you have taken a substance and feel unwell, to seek medical support and advice immediately."

Nick Clegg says he will defend his Sheffield Hallam seat for the Liberal Democrats.

Mr Clegg says he has a "huge loyalty and attachment" to his constituency.

He says the Prime Minister's decision to seek a snap election on 8 June is "opportunist, in order to secure a landslide and impose a hard Brexit":

Sixth form and college students in Sheffield could lose their free bus passes if the city council gives the go-ahead to planned changes to travel schemes later today.

    Bus in Hillsborough

The move would also see families asked to contribute more than £500 per child for students with special educational needs.

Sheffield City Council is one of only a small number of authorities which still offers free school or college transport for young people.

The authority says families who qualify will be able to apply for a bursary to cover the extra cost.

But families of students who currently get free special educational needs transport will be asked to pay £540 per year to cover the cost.

It currently costs about £300,000 to help provide the service, the council says.

A reward of £4,000 has been offered to anyone who can help police find out more about the death of a rare red kite in North Yorkshire.

    Red Kite

Police say the bird of prey was found near Greenhow, in Nidderdale, on Saturday 11 March and an examination revealed its carcass contained what's believed to be lead shot.

Three rewards worth a total of £4,000 have been offered for information leading to the arrest and charge of anyone involved in the killing.

The money's been put together by local residents, businesses and organisations such as the RSPB and Crimestoppers.

It's taken many years to reintroduce red kites to the UK after their near-extinction. They have special legal protection under the Wildlife and Countryside Act.

Anyone with information is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police.

The £25m secondary school and sixth form (artist's impression above) on Carter Knowle Road will create 180 school places by September 2018, according to Sheffield City Council.

Campaigners against the proposed Bannerdale school say the fact the land was previously used for landfill (pictured below) creates an "unnecessary risk of potentially explosive and flammable toxic gases".

A public meeting in March, which was attended by just over 100 people, also raised concerns about the loss of green space, with the proposed school site taking up a large chunk of land which is currently available for public use.

Scientists are warning an asteroid thought to be the size of a famous Yorkshire landmark is due to pass the Earth later today.

The last time an asteroid this size came as close to our home planet was back in 2004.

Stay calm though, there's no need to panic: it's passing us at five times the distance of the moon.

Mike Shaw, an astronomer from Bootham School in York, has tried to give us a little context, by comparing the asteroid's size to a very well-known place in Scarborough:
