  3. York 21-gun salute to mark Queen's 91st birthdaypublished at 09:30 British Summer Time 21 April 2017

The Queen is celebrating her 91st birthday today and, unlike last year's events for her 90th, it's thought she'll spend the day celebrating privately.

    21-gun salute

However, that doesn't stop a 21-gun salute being held in York's Museum Gardens this lunchtime.

Unlike most people, of course, the Queen has two birthday celebrations each year. Today is her actual birthday, but she also celebrates an "official" birthday in June

Usually, the official birthday happens in summer because there's a better chance of good weather in the UK during the summer months.

The two-birthday tradition was started more than 250 years ago by King George II in 1748.
