    Some good news this afternoon...

    Twelve-year-old Izabela Vorosova, who was reported missing earlier today, has been found, police have confirmed.

    She's "safe and well", say police, who've thanked the public for their help in finding her.

    Crowds are building in Sheffield city centre as celebrations get under way in the city centre as fans celebrate the Blades winning the League 1 trophy.

    The players will attend a civic reception at the town hall at about 19:50, but before that there's an open-top bus parade, which is set to leave Bramall Lane at about 18:00.  

    To help ensure safety, several road closures are in place until around 20:30 including Fargate, Surrey Street, Leopold Street, Burgess Street and Holly Street.

    An inquest has heard how the partner of a transgender woman found dead in a cell at HMP Leeds didn't think she should have been housed in a male prison.

    Vikki Thompson died at the jail 18 months ago after being on remand for a month. 

    Miss Thompson's partner, Robert Steele, told the inquest in Wakefield he'd received a letter from the 21-year-old saying: "I know I'm going to do something silly." 

    Miss Thompson was found dead in her cell at a time when she was preparing to ask the prison's governor to be moved to a female jail, the court heard.

    The inquest continues.

    The Closed Shop pub in the Crookesmoor area of Sheffield closed its doors last month after its parent company ceased trading.

    Two men from Leeds have been arrested on suspicion of attempted burglary after they were spotted trying to get into houses in Harrogate.

    North Yorkshire Police say people called them after they saw two men trying the door handles of houses in the Jennyfields and Burn Bridge areas yesterday lunchtime. 

    Officers found the men, who are 24 and 25-years-old, along with suspected stolen items in the back of their van, and arrested them. 

  7. Fire-hit Whitby restaurant could be closed for three monthspublished at 14:34 British Summer Time 2 May 2017

    The famous Magpie Cafe in Whitby could be closed for three months following two fires there in just 24 hours, it's been revealed.

    Investigations are continuing into what caused the fires at the weekend at what is regarded as one of the Yorkshire coast's most famous fish and chip restaurants. 

    Crews spent six hours fighting the first fire on Sunday night, then on Monday afternoon the cafe's roof was again engulfed in flames.

    As we reported earlier, Liberty House has confirmed a £100m deal to acquire the Speciality Steels division of Tata Steel UK located at Rotherham, Stocksbridge and Brinsworth in South Yorkshire. 

    The move will create 300 jobs and secure 1,700 positions, according to the firm.

    John Bolton, Liberty's chief executive, says he has very high hopes for the deal:

  9. Bright future ahead for thousands of York's streetlightspublished at 14:17 British Summer Time 2 May 2017

    About £2m is to be spent on replacing some of York's ageing streetlights.

    City of York Council approved the work last February and work is due to get under way soon.

    A total of 2,000 concrete and steel columns will be built. 

    Twelve thousand light columns will be checked and there'll be thousands of new white light LEDs.

    Police say they're growing concerned for his welfare and say a number of searches are ongoing across the Wakefield area to find him.

    One of Kirklees' most wanted criminals has been arrested after a campaign to tackle anti-social behaviour and crime.

    They were arrested as part of a five-week campaign which was focused around Dewsbury town centre. 

    As well as one person being arrested on suspicion of grooming a child, a number of drivers were also found to have no insurance.

    People in a town in Cumbria are meeting later to discuss if the town gained any benefits when it became part of the Yorkshire Dales.

    Since August last year, the newly extended National Park has included parts of Kirkby Lonsdale, along with other areas of Cumbria.

    This evening, businesses and local residents will find out what the economic advantages might be and get a chance to discuss any potential disadvantages.

    This is the moment a man in Leeds was just seconds away - and inches away - from being seriously injured by a car which had lost control.

    It happened on Roundhay Road just after midnight last night when the grey Golf had a crash with another car.

    Amazingly, no one was seriously injured, though a man in his early twenties suffered minor injuries.

    Police say no-one has been arrested so far in connection with the incident.

    Over 50 extra officers from the across the UK are being recruited to join the investigation into child sex abuse in Rotherham.

    The National Crime Agency has announced it's looking for serving inspectors, sergeants and constables to work as part of Operation Stovewood. 

    They will focus on offences committed between 1997 and 2013.

    Organisers of cycling's Tour de Yorkshire have renewed calls to extend the race to a fourth day after record spectator attendance figures over the weekend.

    An estimated 2.2m people watched the three stages, taking in the east coast on Friday, Yorkshire's market towns on Saturday and eight climbs on Sunday.

    The overall winner was Belgian Serge Pauwels, with Otley-born rider Lizzie Deignan taking the women's race.

    Tourism organistaion Welcome to Yorkshire hopes a fourth day could be added as early as 2018.
