From today, incidents by men and boys against women and girls because of their gender, will be treated by North Yorkshire Police as misogyny hate crime.
Examples include unwanted sexual advances, physical or verbal assault, sexually graphic and obscene language, and using mobile devices to send unwanted messages or take photographs without consent.
The misogyny crackdown was announced on International Women's Day earlier this year by Deputy Chief Constable, Lisa Winward.
