    A teenager has been jailed for 12 years after admitting four sex offences, four robberies and a wounding.

    Ismael Admassu, 19, of Deer Park Road in Stannington appeared at Sheffield Crown court on Friday.

    Admassu was arrested and charged with the offences in October 2016 over sex assaults and physical attacks on four women, before stealing money and valuables from them.

    He has been placed on the Sex Offenders Register indefinitely.

    A teenage boy's died after being catapulted from a car during a crash on the M18 near Doncaster. 

    The 17-year-old from Oldham was a passenger in a black BMW which veered off the carriageway at around 19:30 on Saturday evening, before flipping onto its roof.

    He was thrown from the car and onto a blue Citroen Picasso that was travelling in the same direction.

  5. Ballot deadline on Jobcentre futurepublished at 13:29 British Summer Time 15 May 2017

    A ballot over the taking of industrial action against plans to close Sheffield Eastern Avenue Jobcentre ends today.

    Forty-eight PCS union members in the Department for Works and Pension are being asked if they want to strike in an attempt to keep it open.

    Two men, one armed with a hammer and the other with an axe, smashed the window of a jewellers in Leeds this morning as staff hid in a backroom.

    It happened a 11:09 at Brown's Jewellers at the Crossgates Shopping Centre as the men broke through the window and stole a number of expensive watches.

    As they were raiding the shop and staff took refuge in a backroom, the robbers told passers-by to stay back.

    The suspects drove off  in a black Ford Fiesta, which they then abandoned behind the Britannia Hotel, in Mill Green View.

    West Brom will end their interest in Leeds defender Charlie Taylor if an agreement over compensation cannot be reached, manager Tony Pulis insists.

    The 23-year-old, who joined Leeds aged nine, is out of contract this summer.

    However, as he is under 24, any club he signs for would have to pay Leeds a fee related to his development.

    Pulis said: "A tribunal could put an extraordinary amount of money on it and you're stuck with it. It's a risk that, at this moment, is not worth taking."

    A dad who was diagnosed with Alzheimers at just 48-years-old says he tried to hide it from his wife.

    Simon Wade, from Sheffield, is one of 850,000 people who live with dementia in the UK.

    A vehicle has broken down on the M62 eastbound at J26 taking out a lane, there are now three miles of queues.

    Highways England say they expect to have the road fully reopened just after 13:00.

    South Yorkshire Police are warning people to watch out after a number of distraction thefts from cafés in Sheffield city centre.

    The technique is to put a leaflet on top of a phone that's been left on a table and then distract the victim, before making off with the phone.

    North Yorkshire's asparagus season is officially underway and one grower, near Pickering, has a really unusual way of harvesting their crop.

    I've been to meet Karl Avison, at the Cedar Barn farm shop, who has built his own railway to gather in his veg.

    He says the asparagus shoots up so quickly - sometimes eight inches a day - you can almost see it growing.

    Karl lets family fruit pickers ride on the train too, but as you'll see here, it looks like he quite enjoys being a big kid himself:

    A driver of a white Mercedes Benz car who was stopped after driving on the wrong side of the road has had their car taken off them.

    The driver was caught on Penistone Road close to Hillsborough Stadium and South Yorkshire Police say the person was over the prescribed limit of either drink or drugs.

    With just a week to go until the registration to vote in the general election closes, you may have already received your polling card.

    The Electoral Commission estimates around one in six people in Yorkshire are not correctly registered to vote.

    Once registered, you'll get a polling card in the post before voting day.

    A woman in her 80s has been left with a broken knee and ribs after being hit by a car in Horsforth.

    Police say they're looking for witnesses to the incident that happened at about 07:30 on Friday morning.

    A black Fiat Punto hit the woman on Low Lane on as she was crossing the road.

    The body of a woman has been discovered in woods in Leeds - a man has been arrested.

    The body was found by joggers yesterday morning in woods near to Alwoodley Crags car park in Alwoodley. 

    Police say that they have identified the body as a 26-year-old woman from Leeds.A post mortem examination is taking place today. 

    A 26-year-old man from Leeds has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is currently in custody.

    The body of a woman has been found near a tower block in Leeds.

    Police were called to Clyde Court in Wortley at about 08:15 this morning.

    An ambulance was called but the woman died at the scene.

    Police say their enquiries are ongoing.
