  10. North Yorkshire patients urged to 'use the NHS wisely':published at 08:23 British Summer Time 15 May 2017

Patient across North Yorkshire are being urged to use the NHS "wisely" as the full impact of Friday's global cyber-attack is assessed.

There are concerns over thousands of computers being switched back on this morning, especially at GP surgeries which have been closed over the weekend.

Some practices will not yet have full access to patient records, prescriptions, appointment systems and in some cases telephone systems.

Here's what the NHS in North Yorkshire says you can do to help:

    • If you already have a GP appointment booked, this will go ahead. Please do not ring your surgery to check as they will be extremely busy - you should attend for your appointment as normal.
    • If you need to book an urgent GP appointment you will be able to do so, but please bear with us if you have difficulty in getting through to your practice - keep trying.
    • Please bear in mind practices may be running more slowly than usual if they are unable to access some of their systems and people are asked to be patient with staff.
    • All phone lines for GP practices are working. However there is a possibility practices that use electronic call queuing systems may be affected.
