A choir formed by volunteers and users of a food bank in Sheffield is set to perform at the city's annual food festival this Bank Holiday weekend.

The group, who are all involved with the food bank Walkley, are due to perform at about 13:10 in the Winter Garden tomorrow.

Friends and family of a Sheffield woman who was killed in the Manchester Arena bombing earlier this week have released thousands of balloons in tribute.

The balloons were released in Richmond Park to commemorate the life of Kelly Brewster who was 32-years-old.

Kelly was one of 22 people killed at the Ariana Grande concert in Manchester on Monday night.

She was with her sister and niece who are both still being treated in hospital.

Organisations are being invited to bid for the naming rights to Scarborough's new community stadium.

The 2,000-capacity venue will be the home of Scarborough Athletic Football Club and Scarborough Ladies Football Club, as well as a new £14m sports village.

The deadline for applications, external is 12 June.

Leeds gets its 124th Lord Mayor today, with councillor Jane Dowson taking office after unanimous support from members of all parties at the council's AGM this week.

Born and bred in the city, councillor Dowson says she feels "immensely proud" to take on the job.

She says: "To have the chance to be Lord Mayor is a huge honour.

"My husband Alan and I can't wait to start our new roles and meet some of the wonderful people who live in the city through our engagements."

Tributes will be paid to the victims of the Manchester terror attack at live music venues tonight, including in West Yorkshire.

Venues are being encouraged to hold a minute's silence at 21:59, followed by a minute of noise at 22:00.

Tre Sutherland, events manager at The Wardrobe in Leeds, says The Blockheads are gigging there tonight and they will fall silent as a mark of respect.

Tre, who was on one of the trains involved in the 7/7 bombings in 2005, says the suicide blast taking place so close has really "brought it home to people" in West Yorkshire:

"It has affected people a lot, more than an attack further away would have done," she says.

"It's important to get the message out there that these acts of violence are not dividing us. We need to strive to look after each other, and not just in the aftermath of tragedy," Tre adds.

The star of BBC programmes including Silk, Dinnerladies and the recent hard-hitting drama Three Girls will be in conversation at the Crucible theatre on Monday 12 June.

It's going to be a tense weekend for Huddersfield Town fans, with the Terriers just one game away from the Premier League

They play Reading at Wembley on Monday in the Championship play-off final.

To celebrate, Huddersfield Town chairman Dean Hoyle, his wife Janet and Kim Leadbeater, sister of the late MP Jo Cox, are cycling to the stadium in London before the final.

The ride is to raise awareness of the More in Common charity and to raise money for it.

Mr Hoyle says the road to Wembley is an emotional time:

More Big Issue vendors will be able to use card readers for payment after money left over from a fundraising campaign for the funeral of a Big Issue seller in York was donated to the charity.

When Pete Toulson (pictured) died, his friends Julie and John McGall set up an online donation page to raise money for the funeral costs.

They raised over £5,000 and are splitting the remainder three ways - between Big Issue North, the homelessness charity Crisis and Pete's partner.

The £600 presented to Big Issue North will be used for vendors in York and Leeds to purchase card readers so they can accept non-cash payments.

The card reader scheme was originally begun in March by a York Big Issue vendor called Sinbad after he realised fewer people were carrying cash.

Police have released the identity of a 38-year-old man found dead at an address in Doncaster.

Liam Morris is jailed for six years for the killing of Daniel Brelsford in Sheffield.

Emergency crews are currently dealing with a road accident in the Hillsborough area of Sheffield.

It's understood that the incident is at Hillsborough Corner, where Langsett Road, Middlewood Road, Holme Lane and Bradfield Road all meet, with traffic looking slow in that area as a result.

The Sheffield Supertram was also suspended for a while, but Stagecoach has confirmed the route through Hillsborough has re-opened:

Thousands packed into Barkers Pool in Sheffield city centre this lunchtime for Kell Brook and Errol Spence's weigh-in ahead of their bout at Bramall Lane tomorrow night.

Both fighters came in under the welterweight limit of 10st 7lbs.

On the scales, Brook came in at 10st 6lb and 7oz and Spence measured 10st 6lbs 5oz:

The Islamic holy month of Ramadan starts this weekend and throughout the festival BBC Radio Sheffield will be following some local people from South Yorkshire who'll be fasting.

They'll be sharing how it works practically and how it fits around work and school, plus also a look at their beliefs.

The headmaster of a North Yorkshire school is going above and beyond the call of duty.

Stephen Mulryne, from Terrington Hall, is walking from Norfolk back to York to raise funds for a new school hockey pitch.

A Huddersfield Town fan who lives in Australia is flying to the UK to watch her team at Wembley.

Town are just one win away from a place in the Premier League - all they need to do is beat Reading on Monday in the Championship final.

Natalie Richards, from Perth, is one half of Two Pommie Sheilas, external, two British women who host regular chats on their Facebook page and write columns about life in Australia.

She says a long-haul flight for a couple of hours in a stadium is a "small price to pay for a hometown club that feels so much closer".

Once it strikes knock-off time today she's packing her Huddersfield Town shirt and flying across the world to be part of the Wembley crowd.

The Special Olympics, external takes place in Sheffield this August, with about 2,600 athletes from across the country expected to take part in sporting competitions in venues across the Steel City.

Today, the official anthem entitled We'll Stop at Nothing has been released, which is co-written and performed by South Yorkshire's former super-bike World Champion James Toseland:

A Ripon man has been jailed for six-and-a-half years for a violent attempted robbery outside a bank on Knaresborough High Street.

Ryan Hunt, 25, of Wellington Mews, Ripon, hit the 57-year-old victim over the head with a knuckleduster as he was withdrawing £30 from an ATM at about 18:10 on 29 April 2016.

Hunt failed to grab the £30 and damaged a police car as he made his escape.

He was also banned from driving for six years and three months.
