Sir Cliff Richard and South Yorkshire Police have settled a legal fight which started when the singer sued the force and the BBC following reports naming him as a suspected sex offender.
Lawyers told Mr Justice Mann at a hearing in London on Friday that Sir Cliff and force bosses had come to terms.
The singer had taken legal action against the BBC and South Yorkshire Police over coverage of a raid at his apartment in Sunningdale, Berkshire, in August 2014.
He also said his right to respect for private life had been infringed and he wanted "very substantial" damages.
Sir Cliff Richard and the BBC remain in dispute.
BBC editors have said they would "defend ourselves vigorously".

Roadworks are set to begin early next week on a major road on the south side of Sheffield.
The Bochum Parkway near the Meadowhead roundabout is having an additional lane added to allow access to and from a new retail park which is being built on the old site of Norton College:
The project which won't be completed until spring 2018 will also see a new traffic light controlled entrance off the A6102 and an extra lane added on the Meadowhead roundabout itself.
Pavements, cycle paths and bus stops in the area will also be affected at times and drivers can expect to experience delays whilst the work is carried out.

A serial rapist has been jailed for a further 12 years for a sex attack dating back almost three decades.
Raymond Manners, 56, from Leeds, admitted raping a woman in the Chapeltown area of the city on 23 February 1991.
The cold case was solved thanks to advances in DNA profiling.
Manners, who is already serving 10 years for two 1979 rapes, was sentenced at Leeds Crown Court.
West Yorkshire Police said other criminals should be "dreading that knock on the door" due to forensic advances.

If you're out across South Yorkshire this weekend and see armed officers on patrol following Monday's attack in Manchester, then you're being actively encouraged by the force to approach them and say "hello".
These officers were photographed on patrol at the Meadowhall Shopping Centre in Sheffield earlier today:
The force is keen to stress that there is "no cause for concern" and they are present for "reassurance" only.
However, you are likely to see them in the centre of Sheffield, Doncaster, Rotherham and Barnsley, plus at South Yorkshire's railway stations and at Doncaster/Sheffield Airport.

I'm at the home of Sheffield United today to preview what's been dubbed the "biggest fight of 2017" between Sheffield's Kell Brook and Errol Spence.
They'll be 26,000 fans packed inside here tomorrow night and as you can see things are very near set:

Judges praised the way in which the creation of the new facilities on St Leonard's Place, "engaged with the historic city walls to minimize the impact and distraction towards the original monument."
North Yorkshire's other five winners (below) include from top left clockwise, the M&S foodhall in Northallerton, York's newly refurbished Theatre Royal, Cunelands House in Malton (a private dwelling) and Rievaulx Abbey's visitor centre.
Judges say the awards reflect the contribution each building has made to Yorkshire's heritage.

This weekend the First Direct Arena in Leeds will host its first concert since the terror attack in Manchester.
Although fans going to see Adam Ant have been told it's business as usual on Saturday, they've been asked to leave bags and coats at home and told that full searches will take place.

Leeds United footballer Eunan O'Kane and his fiance Laura Lacole are taking a case to the High Court in Northern Ireland looking for legal recognition for a humanist wedding.
The couple are due to marry in Northern Ireland next month and are challenging the General Register Office for refusing to officially authorise the ceremony.
Their wedding is due to be conducted by a British Humanist Association celebrant.
Humanist marriages are currently legally recognised in Scotland and the Republic of Ireland.
The couple argue this case is all about their human rights and they hope they can change the law before their wedding next month.
Quote MessageWe want a ceremony which embraces our values in the same way as any religious person would want to be married in a ceremony reflective of their beliefs."
