    Quote Message

What a lovely man. The way he interacted with the boys was fantastic and he put us all at ease. Previously, Oliver has had to be kept away from the other boys because of the condition of the garden at the bottom. Now we're all going to be able to play together. With a family of five boys, that's really important, and important for Oliver too."

The teenager was with friends at the site on Wyther Lane in Kirkstall last night when he fell through the roof and into the abandoned building, say police.

The death of the young boy follows two similar recent incidents in Leeds where two boys were seriously injured in falls at disused buildings.

A 12-year-old boy was seriously injured at a disused factory in Modder Avenue, Armley, just over two weeks ago.

A 13-year-old boy was seriously injured at a derelict building in Ninelands Lane, Garforth, in May.

    Quote Message

We fully appreciate that young people can find sites such as this interesting and want to explore them. While we would never seek to blame the young people involved in these recent incidents for what has happened we do need to remind young people of the potential dangers of entering abandoned buildings and other places, such as building sites, and we hope parents will assist us by reinforcing that message to their children."
